Ya, that's definitely getting traction.

Briere is a likely trade candidate assuming he'll waive his NTC. Yeah, Bryz could be bought out very soon. And if that happens, I'd love to see what their backup plan is.

Philly is in deep with their goaltending and if I had to guess Smith is a likely UFA they will target.

As for Briere, maybe he waives his NTC, maybe he doesn't but either way he will either choose to come to Ottawa or stay in that tri-state area.  He is in total control of his career at this point.

Good on the PP, can play centre or wing, right-handed shot, fairly consistent, still got at least a couple decent years left...yep, we'll take Briere.

Hope so, again though, not THE MOVE the Sens have to make but if they want an extended playoff run they will need to add depth in terms of some vets you can count on.  Briere is ideal for the current Ottawa team and the guy can still play.  Take a lot of the pressure off Alfi and Phillips as well.

Streit is so St-wrong in Philly, though. He is the antithesis of the Broadstreet Bullies.

I'd say being in total control would mean he could choose to stay where he is. It's not like he wants to get out.

That's fair but all in all, he pretty much controls where he does go.

You have laugh a little if streit doesn't sign in Philly and they gave that up as I don't think any part of the deal was conditional. 

As for Briere I think he rejects any deal at the moment. He's got more to win with a buyout and getting more money with a new contract. Anybody in their right mind opts to wait for the buyout if they care about their pocketbook. Ottawa will still be waiting come July 5th

Depends on the buyout calculation. Do you know how much he gets paid if he takes the buyout?

Ya, big reason why I think they'll go the buy out route and once again Briere will get paid.

Briere getting 'paid' isn't half as enticing as he is right now.  4 million should be our max on him after a poor season.

They can't do that anymore anyway. His cap would still apply in the minors. Am I misunderstanding that portion of the new CBA?

If Kovalev can get 5 mill little Briere might get the same from a team desperate for offense.
