Why?
He's absolutely awful.
He used to be awesome, are you saying that because he's oft injured?

Kind of answered your own question. He's not worth that anymore, we'd be doing TB a favor with nothing to gain.
NEELY wrote:So I heard on the Team1200 Hossa could be on the move... There's the PERFECT player for the Sens and I mean perfect. He doesn't have a NTC either. Chicago is going to have to make room going forward as well because Crawford will be getting 4.5-5 mil after next year, I don't think you want to break up that defense either, and you know they want to sign Bickell... That's a guy who still has a ton of hockey left in him too and is still an absolutely fantastic and great hall of fame player.
Chicago could walk off with a small ransom too.
NEELY wrote:The other thing is with a budget team like the Sens spending to the cap will never be an issue so the fact Hossa's contract back dives the way it does and the cap hit stays with the team no matter what could be an advantage to the Sens and a big disadvantage to the Hawks. Yah, the next 3 years are tough to swallow and he's getting a little older but man, the guy can still play the game.
Word is Chicago might actually buy him out so he can play where he would like to as well. Who's word that is, I don't know but it is interesting none the less.

NEELY wrote:Fragile pane of glass? He's been in 4 of the last 6 Cup finals, lol. If the Sens want a player to fill the hole on RW who's a LH shot and can still play and has a couple cup rings... Hossa is that guy. I don't think there is a chance that happens but that's the 100% perfect player to have in Ottawa for a few years to come.

NEELY wrote:You can pretty much guarantee Chicago would take on some of the salary as well, perhaps the difference each year compared to his cap hit... so 7.9 mil real salary, 5.9 cap hit, retain 2 mil each year, 6 mil total. Cap hit stays with the Sens throughout and Chicago can get some decent pieces back like 1st next year, Greening, couple prospects...
2014 1st
Greening
Stone
Boroweicki
Something like that. Would be worth it because Ottawa is a legit contender with Hossa and the pressure that comes off that team as a whole is huge.
Hoags wrote:Ticket sales and jerseys would increase as well if you land a guy like Hossa. Melnyk might look at that, if he was serious about acquiring Nash who wasn't cheap either.
Hossa should have never ever left Ottawa maybe they can rectify that but I doubt Melnyk would ever spend that much, even on a class act like Hossa who is pretty much the opposite of Heatley.

It sounds like pure speculation on his part though.
