But seriously, I would give up all that and probably a guy like Greenings for Malkin as well. Malkin/Karlsson/Lehner for the next 10 years would be just sick. Spezza 2nd line center who doesn't see the teams best forwards, dream made in heaven for that guy and it would allow him to be a REAL captain, he can play a game more suited for that role.

I think they tell you to take out one of the 1sts and put in Cowen personally.

With an extension, you do it IMO. That's a friggin ton to give up, but it's arguably the 2nd best player in the world.

I agree that on a pure talent-level, Malkin is the best player in the world. He's quite ridiculous. The thing with Crosby, is that people would tell you that you're getting a more complete player (leadership, etc)...I would argue that guys like Crosby and Malkin are more effective on the ice when they don't have to worry about captaincy. So, yeah, on our team, I'd take Malkin in a second over Crosby.

I'm getting a stiffy here, can we quit talking about Malkin to the Sens?

The hardest part about that deal is probably the "Sign Malkin" part because if he doesn't, Bryan Murray might wanna move to another country

The Name Dropper says it's just posturing as well. Not necessarily for Ottawa's benefit but just to get an NHL job at a price and term he likes.

there are some players who have more skill than Crosby. It's his work ethic and competition level that sets him apart.
Nobody offers a more complete package than him. There is a reason the other team's best defenders and Malkin gets the leftovers.

Malkin takes too many stretches off to be considered the best in the world. When he's on, he's like vintage Jagr for sure.

i mean ok, I don't want to say it isn't arguable because that's hyperbolic, but Malkin doesn't make players around him that much better, certainly not as much as Crosby makes 2nd/3rd liners into star players

When Crosby is out, Malkin is the best player in the world no matter what defenders play against him, and you even said that the other day, so I don't think you can use that argument.
