he's def a plan C. I mean, you want a guy that's got a bit more compete in him. he's not really that top line winger we need. more of the second line. I'd go the trade route before offering him a contract. BM's got alot of work ahead of july 1st if you ask me.NEELY wrote:SpezDispenser wrote:NEELY wrote:He ended Montreal playoff dreams, he was solid throughout and scored some big goals.
What happened to him this year? I mean...he was invisible. The only guy who was more invisible was Gallagher when we started hitting him all the time.
Nothing... didn't have a guy to get him the puck and anyone who thought that Ryder would fit well into a trap system was kidding themselves. In Dallas he was a scoring fiend as well. Put him next to Spezza and see what he does.

I'd rather re-sign Benoit, in that case. But we have a lot of D.
1st pairing is Karlsson-Methot, that's pretty much set. Cowen/Gryba make a nice 2nd pairing. Full off-season to recover/train and then a full camp and pre-season, and we will see a much better Cowen. So we need to fill out the bottom pairing, and we have Phillips, Wiercioch, Borowiecki. Ideally we find a veteran RHS guy, or we could see how things play out at the start of the season.
Re-sign Benoit to replace Gonchar? No deal! Gryba on the 2nd pairing? Perhaps, but preferably on the 3rd pairing with Phillips, which takes us right back to where we were...what do we do about replacing Gonchar if he leaves?
Something has to give in SJ though. They have 8.6M in cap space next season needing to sign about 5 players... That's tight..
I wish...can't see that happening now that SJ appears to have constructed a strong team.

Mentionned that he was ready to break out and that his shot is overwhelming, and even said with Spezza he could be the Sens' version of James Neal.
