TSN.ca says he shoots left. Dan Boyle is still the best guy to go after, but seeing as how that's not going to happen, streit should definitely be a target. Give him a 3-year $12-15M deal. However then are you looking to pair him with Cowen?

I know he shoots left, but he might be a guy like Gonchar who can play the right side. I seem to recall hearing that a couple of times.

I'd say Streit is so consistent you could set your watch to him getting 40+ points.

obviously their careers aren't the same, but who cares about that when evaluting a player in the now?

long term contract, at 5.5 mil, going from age 35-39, while playing a grand total of 18 playoff games and having 9 points in those games... 6 of them coming this year against the Pens. What could go wrong?

Gonchar is a better player than Streit is right now, way more reliable and is on the ice in every situation. Striet is an offense 1st player and worries about his own zone 2nd.

For the right price, sure, Streit would be a logical fit on the Sens. 3 years at 16.5? No chance.

You think you're gonna find a better fit? He doesn't have post-season experience, but who does like Gonchar? You're not likely to find anyone. Streit can man the PP and would be filthy with Karlsson on the PP, he can still play 5 on 5 - he moves about as quick as Gonchar, so I doubt you'd even notice the difference. And for aallllllll the playoff experience Gonchar had, he was outclassed vs the Pens, so is it that much of a stretch to say Streit would be just as good?

Yah it is that much of a stretch because he hasn't accomplished much at all in the NHL other than landing some big contracts. Like I said, good offensive D man but not a whole lot of substance to his game. Would NEVER give Streit 16.5 mil, ever.

I have some issues giving Streit 5.5 X 3 as well to be honest. He'll likely get it though and if he got it here, he'd ruin it with Karlsson. I can just imagine it...

Screw Streit. Let Gonch go to KHL. July 5th Murray should call Bogosians agent and see if a 5 year 22.5M contract would be okay with him. Then work out the trade with the Jets GM say perhaps Weircioch and a 1st.

Apparently the KHL offer for Gonch is more than $6M per year. Apparently we'd like to resign him for less than he was making ($5.5M per).
