I like him but think they go with pure skill or a big guy with grit and scoring. I understand Hartman plays bigger than his size but we have that type of guy in Conacher if we wanna use him.

I think Shinkaruk might make a lot of sense for Ottawa, if he drops like he has been lately. Pure goal scorer.

I think they will get somebody good regardless, and Domi, Horvat, Wennberg, Burakovsky (W), Mantha, Lazar, Gauthier, Rychel and Jason Dickinson will probably be all on the radar.

Dickinson is another guy who they could trade down a little to get. He is so skilled, but scouts have varied opinions on him. Mark Edwards from HockeyProspect really loves him and I respect his opinion a lot on draft prospects.

Hartman will play in the NHL around or over the 200lb mark... huge difference there. He was also a rookie in the OHL this year so having the kind of year he had is all the more impressive. He can skate, he can score, he does all the things needed to be tough to play against. Maybe they try and trade up to land a kid like Domi but they probably won't have a shot at him.

You could be right though, maybe they swing for the fences and try and grab a winger that has a high ceiling that's a bit more risky, could happen and it makes sense. The only thing I disagree with on is the Murray's and Dorion taking a faller in the draft... Sens tend to land the risers.

I agree but also feel it's a bit mixed with Cowen and Puempel being 1st round fallers (injuries).

That's also a good point. Murray's take a chance on guys who fall because of injuries. Cowen, Puempel, Wiercioch... they love the players that other teams hate as well though.

The thing about the Sens and especially Dorion is that he follows a lot of prospects 1 to 2 years before their draft year so he knows prospect's potential in case they get injured before their draft year. Maidens, Stone are good examples. Wouldn't be surprised if it happens again this year.

Lots of teams do this. It's only a question of philosophy. We valued Karlsson enough to trade up and grab him. Other teams didn't think he was worth #15 overall.

Or someone at 10 - 15 might hope a specific player slides and if he gets picked then that pick becomes more moveable... Lots of things can happen.

Not that I disagree but I'm not sure how your post has anything to do with mine.

A commenter on Senschirp is hung up on Anthony Mantha?

Apparently Mantha has no drive, so he's out

Didn't sound like MacLean wanted a player like Briere. He said he wanted a goal scorer with size - and Briere doesn't have size.

I'm sure he realizes that's easier said than done though.

We already decided that Bryan Bickell will solve all of our problems. 30 goals on a line with Spezza, plus size to spare. Boom.

Oh yeah, that's true. And Stalberg as a 'just in case'

Here's another question:

I love Conacher's drive and willingness to take abuse in front of the net, but I'd like to see him get a lot stronger and stop diving. If they decide he could use another portion of a season in the AHL, does he have to clear waivers?

Seriously though, it's hard to see us bringing in more than 2 wingers. If those two are Bickell and Briere, would anyone be upset with that, assuming they're brought in as free agents?

Of course, the trade route is always open, but there's a bazillion different options there so it's kinda hard to discuss.

Don't let Briere get to free agency. He makes 2.5 X 2 as it is now, you're not gonna beat that.

They probably will ask Briere to wave and Ottawa would be the perfect landing spot for him. It's a solid move.

Bickell is a guy I can see Ottawa give a Smith like Contract to. Add those 2 guys and the team is better, simple as that.

I guess trading for Briere depends on what Philly asks for...anyway, assuming our forward additions this summer are Briere and Bickell, is anyone NOT happy with that?

People who want a bigger splash. Lots of people were upset all we got is Latendresse and Lundin last summer instead of Nash(for example).

What if we did get Nash though? The rumours were Zibanejad + Lehner + 1st round (Ceci). That's unreal. That would have been very controversial. Plus Nash sucked Donkey in the playoffs.
