Always liked that guy - despite rumours of him being a dink. Great release, could score a TON of goals here. But is he a MacLean style of player? Don't think so...

If you are talking about the amount of revenue a casino downtown would bring in vs it in Kanata for the city of Ottawa, it isn't even a discussion.  As for the rest, Melnyk, the Sens, and SSE, that's all his personal gain.  I could care less if the Sens don't make a dime on a casino, it changes nothing for the city as whole.  It helps Kanata and Melnyk, that's it.

How many people walk by CTC?  How many people walk by the Parliament?  It's not even close the amount of traffic one has over the other.

I offered Zibanejad + 17th + Ceci + Puempel for Letang on HF. I want soooooo bad. Would love to have permission to talk to him about an extension first obviously.

Why in the world would Ottawa want Letang?  That's a player if he ever leaves Pitt will be seriously over paid and exposed.  Wouldn't give him 5 mil a year let alone 7 and paying him more than Karlsson.

As for Camelarri, he's a LH shot which Ottawa is desperate for at this point up front, everyone is a righty.  He's probably a good fit for a little bit and is a legit top 6 forward that won't cost a ton.

A casino in Kanata would also see an increase in other business/home developments in the area.

Saying it helps Kanata "that's it" is wrong since Kanata is Ottawa. It's just a neighborhood.

I don't understand. Letang is Cussing amazing. Imagine having Karlsson on pairing one and Letang with Cowen on pairing 2? I'd give everything for that....everything.

How could you slight Letang? How?

Does he fit the system? That's a huge question. Does he skate hard, does he play a '200 foot game'?

You have Ceci in the system waiting to take that #4 role.

Yeah, Diddle that if Letang is anywhere near available. Surely you see it too and you're Cussing with me.

Agreed. Both help the city and are in Ontario. Maybe downtown casino gets a little more revenue, and even that will be debatable. I don't know about others, but I'm perfectly ok with a casino even if it means melnyk pockets more money. I want the Euge to get richer and kanata to be less boring

I don't think I'd offer Zibanejad + 17th + Ceci + Puempel for Letang. That's 4 first round picks. I would offer Z-Bad, Ceci, and NEXT year's 1st. But honestly I think I'd almost rather have Orpik, understanding that the cost would be less as well.

Really? I dunno man, the chance to get Letang - a current Norris nominee and filthy point producer - to go with last year's Norris winner and filthy point producer, while still being able to keep Turris, Silfverberg, Cowen, Lehner, Stone etc. would be so enticing to me, it's not even funny.

But another offensive D-man isn't our #1 need...we need a top line winger first and foremost.

You can't forget that Letang plays behind Crosby and Malkin.  We don't have Malkin.  We don't have Crosby.  Think how many points Karlsson would be getting if we had those two.  I think NEELY's point is that Letang will be over-valued because he is putting up Karlsson-like points.  He's a little fish in a pond with some really big ones.  Plop him in a different pond with some minnows and his number won't look anywhere near as interesting.

Or something like that.

While all the talk is surrounding Bobby Ryan, I'd prefer to go after Jamie Benn. He's young, big body, and he's signed to a much better, longer-term deal than Ryan.

With Dallas' additions of Gonchar and the extension of Lehtonen, Dallas is at their usual place of signing big name players and not being able to afford them come mid-season. I'd imagine you could pry Benn out of Dallas for our 1st, Noesen (from Texas), and Greening/Silfverberg. May seem like we're giving up a lot but Benn is a beast - easy 40 goal scorer playing with Spezza.

Benn is a beast - so why exactly is Dallas dealing him?

He's untouchable.

and that deal is lacking in actual NHL players

Franchise player in DAL, no question. Great sentiment, but it's about as probable as OTT trading Karlsson.

EDIT: this new text box is stupid.
