like spez said our 1st, Pumpel and Z Smith are the players you look to trade. you have to start exploring what you could get in return for a Dacosta as well. I don't think he'll make this team but a team lacking in depth my take the gamble.

MacLean just said that Smith was one of two players to make the biggest strides (Turris being the other). Does that sounds like he's pumping his tires to increase trade value?

If anyone were to do that it'd be Murray.

MacLean is the coach and he calls it like he sees it. Trades etc. isn't his department.

meh, you never know. i'm sure BM and Pmac work somewhat together in some respect. like all coach and GM tandems. hence when coaches play certain player to showcase them. i could see it. it's not the first thing that comes to my mind when he said that.

whether he thinks he's played well is one thing. whether he's expendable is another.

Hmmm, well, I doubt he gets traded now. Not sure who we can even offer in trade at this point.

I think it's down to Cowen or Wiercioch. I can't see both of them here come September.

Probably an easy choice, Weircioch seems to have trouble in physical games and that's a Bryan Murray staple on the blueline. He's a guy who will be really good 5 years down the road, not tomorrow.

Murray also mentioned that they're at the stage now in drafting where they are dealing from a position of strength and need to look at their needs instead of just drafting the best player available. To me, it means he won't hesitate to deal that first rounder if an elite winger came back.

Weircioch + our 1st could help get that guy. Add in DaCosta and I think we got a capable deal for Bobby Rye.

Or we can just keep both of them because Wiercioch's trade value is pretty meh at the moment.

19pts in 42g and +9 as a rookie D-man is nothing to sneeze at

I'll rephrase: He'll be much better(stronger) next year so we would trade him at the wrong time if it's right now.

I think Tampa may be one of those teams. Short of bodies and relatively tight to the cap maybe a young, cheap D-Man and forward plus a pick gets us Teddy Purcell?

Like who though? I'd love to have Purcell.

No clue. That's up to Murray but he does have a rapport with that organization already... Heck, they could have Conacher back AFAIC.

Conacher will be fine. Purcell is good. And he's a Newfie...reunite him with Greening!

I'm not saying he won't but if that's part of what it took to get Purcell it would be silly not to.

On a team near the bottom of the league in G/G. Yeah. Pretty "meh".
