Ottawa Senators TIDBITS & QUICK HITS!

I posted the stats a while ago, but typically we're well above (below?) average in penalties taken. So you can call it a conspiracy or you can just say maybe we're a little undisciplined.

...and yeah, the officiating has been "tight". "Bad" is another word I would use.

It also doesn't help that they have that new, ridiculous, stupid rule about using your hand off the faceoff, in addition to the rule about covering the puck with your hand.

So... conspiracy theories are flying around now that Spezza injured himself in Europe but kept it under wraps, suited up here so that he would not risk losing pay.

Considering no one has been able to pinpoint when he got injured, or find any signs of his performance suddenly getting worse during the Pitt game (he scored in the shootout)... there may be some legs to that...

That's funny. I was saying the exact same thing to a buddy of mine last night.

We'll never know, and given the team's initial reaction, I doubt they pursue any sort of investigation. It'll be much better if this whole conspiracy just dies. NOW.

I love that rule... it was getting our of control. If there is an easier penalty "not" to take I don't know what it is. Don't put your hand over the puck, frigging simple. I hated the faceoff win with your hand, I hated pass the puck in your own zone with your hand over the puck. This is a good rule because it's totally avoidable.

Meh w/e, he's been in Ottawa for a decade and this is a non issue as far as I am concerned. He's had back problems before so this is no surprise. That said, I don't buy that he was hurt in the NHL either, he was skating like garbage the entire time and never shot the puck... surprising considering I can't remember him taking a slap shot this season which he always uses.

Yeah, those details don't really affect us at all. Injured is injured no matter where it happens. Sucks but it is what it is. I'd do the same thing if I was him.

Is Latendresse injured as well?

With Spezza out, does it make sense to try to flip Bishop for a rental? Assuming they decide they need someone other than Regin/O'Brien/Zbad to step into the 2nd line center role for the time being.
