It doesn't matter what might have happened, it didn't.

You said they scored 8 in 2 games without Spezza. Well, fact of the matter is it's unlikely they score 5 on Price, so that stat cannot be used to support your thesis that they are fine without Spezza.

Nope, I am basing my statement on my opinion of the team and used the most recent games without Spezza to support it.

They would have scored 10 on that Wing Dang Doodle.

Maybe but right now Turris, Zibanejad both are a PPG without Spezza in the lineup (don't think they keep that up obviously), Regin and Smith are both dependable players that don't make a lot of mistakes. IMO this is going to be great for the Sens if you take a long term approach to it and even in the short term they can probably do the job. Da Costa might be an option down the road if they are struggling with offense but 8 goals in their last 2 games without Spezza is saying it's not.

Gonna have to let things play out of a couple weeks to see where they are at.

They wouldn't have scored 5 on Price.

Why not?

Because Price > Budaj. Come on!

While Thomas certainly had our number, Rask is a great goalie as well. The Leafs games will be tough as well if they continue to get scoring from unlikely sources.

I know it's just one game, but Rask got lit up by Vanek and the Sabres, 7-4 with TV having another 5 point night.

He had been stellar up to that point, and has now had one bad game. Look at his career stats.

Boston, with all their payroll and everything, have often struggled to score goals. I believe it has a lot to do with their game plan. I'm not saying it's easy playing goal for the Boston Bruins, but it certainly can have a positive effect on your stats.

Interesting stats:

Ottawa is tied for 5th best in the league with 3.43 goals per game (Chicago is the other team). Islanders are ahead of them.

Ottawa is tied for the league lead in goals against per game at 1.71 (San Jose is the other team).

Sens have the league's 6th best PP percentage and 4th best PK.

They have been given the 4th highest number of minor penalties, and have the 5th lowest number of power plays.

Sens are an even strength team, they roll 4 lines. That's what all that tells me.

Being a puck possession team you would expect them to draw a lot of penalties. The conspiracy is alive and well!

Meh, they are calling everyone tight.

I posted the stats a while ago, but typically we're well above (below?) average in penalties taken. So you can call it a conspiracy or you can just say maybe we're a little undisciplined.

...and yeah, the officiating has been "tight". "Bad" is another word I would use.

For sure. Seems the whistles are in full effect across the league. Pain in the Donkey.

It also doesn't help that they have that new, ridiculous, stupid rule about using your hand off the faceoff, in addition to the rule about covering the puck with your hand.
