I don't know if you can quantify nice hands or creativity, but I understand what you mean now. He's not in the realm of Spezza in terms of creativity. Funnily enough, I haven't seen Ryan be too creative with the puck yet, I think he'll slowly fall into that mould. Big, nice skill set, needs to get to the net.NEELY wrote:Making a move with the puck isn't creative, it means he has nice hands. Creativity is something Spezza has, something Bobby Ryan has, Zibanejad isn't that type of player and doesn't need to be. He's not a guy that is going to get other guys the puck in tight spaces, see the play develop before everyone else, etc.SpezDispenser wrote:He shows amazing creativity with the puck when he's feeling confident. He makes moves that only talent will allow you to make, but I think they want him to take the puck right to the net when he dekes a D-man, not take a perimeter shot. It probably sounds like an easy fix, but he has to get it into his head to use his size and speed to make D-men challenge one on one and make them take penalties - or better yet, make them get the F out of the way and allow him to crash the net with the puck.NEELY wrote:I've never seen the creativeness that you are talking about, at least in terms of making plays with the puck. I see a great skater and a great shot who should be the guy going in and getting the puck with his size and strength. Don't think the IQ is there like you said and that's always been my opinion of him. Dynamic though.Ev wrote:he is more creative and is a decent playmaker. Has one-on-one ability and good IQ
I personally think it's as simple as that. He crosses the blue line and almost always drifts to the wall and then shoots. He needs to get that Cussing puck to the net with vigor.
Creative isn't the same as explosive.
