How do you terminate a contract mid-season?  They told him he could go and play elsewhere I assume, but he counted against our 50 contracts.  You don't just wave your magic wand and the contract goes away.

You assume a lot of things and are often wrong. Like in this case, for instance. The contract was terminated way back in January by mutual agreement and he hasn't counted against the contract limit since that time. Since he had no contract...

As discussed, I doubt it's about a 1-way. It's likely about actually seeing an opportunity for call-ups and eventually a permanent spot in the NHL.

I can't remember. He played a lot for Colorado though IIRC.

He's had two 1 year one-way deals since leaving Ottawa. He made a nice chunk in the AHL on his last two-way deal at 300k.

Yeah, he was paid well by us as well to play in the AHL. Pretty solid player, nothing exceptional though, so I guess that limits his chances.
