It's pretty obvious Ottawa should be using a goaltender to make a move for a D man at this point too.

That's what I was thinking as well? Does Phoenix need a backup goaltender? They have lots of good young D. Pitts does as well.. but they have Vokoun -- they don't need Bishop..

If Murray trades for a D... it will be a young one -- but one that is NHL ready or already playing.

No idea but making a move for the long term on the blueline is the only way you trade any goaltender. Who knows though, I'm not on the phone calls.

it could be interesting to see if Bishop would be a piece being moved right now. I'm sure they understand we have the depth but they might want to test Bishop in there to showcase how good he can be. his value is good but is it at it's highest? not yet I say.

Then trade Bishop+ for a good player, the onus is on Murray. He should get 'er done. If the fish ain't biting, re-assess in the summer, that's all I can say right now.

Nobody wanted Bishop when we got him at the deadline last year. I doubt much has changed, he is still unproven in the NHL.

If he plays well in the NHL this year, that would change.

He is 6'7" and playing well in the AHL on a bad (defensive) team -- let's face it, they give up more shots on goal than the worst team in the league. He's already had a few games in the NHL -- nothing fancy, something like a 8-7 record I believe, but he has that experience under his belt. He can come in and be a very reliable #2 right now, with a good chance of becoming a #1 in a few years' time.

Bryzgalov is likely getting bought out. Brodeur won't be around forever. Thomas is still doing ... whatever. Kipper, Nabokov, Vokoun, Theodore, Garon are all in their mid-to-late 30s. Except for Thomas, those are all goalies from the top 30 stats-wise (ranked on wins). There's a lot of churn happening now and in the next 3-4 years, and, yes, AHL goalies will be brought in. Bishop just happens to be one of the top AHL goalies right now, with a bit of NHL experience.

Bishop's value will never be at its highest in Ottawa because he will never be the #1. People know he has that potential. I could make a case for both Anderson or Bishop being the guy that should be traded, both for and against and be convinced of either argument but Lehner is the guy everyone wants up in Ottawa. My view has changed a little thinking it over because Anderson is a guy that could come in and pick up the pieces on any given night if Lehner fumbles a little... Bishop maybe not.

Again, great problem to have. The thing that shouldn't be done is moving Bishop (within this season) for anything but a roster player that will help now and for the next 2 or 3 season. Making a trade for the sake of making a trade is never a good idea unless they 100% need to get Lehner in the net in Ottawa which could be the case.

My sources tell me that the 'nucks are moving Luongo and then sending Bieksa to Ottawa for Bishop to serve as their new backup. More to come./

Can't really say Latendresse looks fat or out of shape anyway.

Would love for Larendresse to be a 20-25 goal guy for the Sens (pro rated). If you can get that out of a 2nd line winger that's gravy.

He can be, it's all about his work ethic plus his health, but the talent is there in spades.

Speaking of UFAs, Buffalo's thinking about re-signing Jochen Hecht, Sens are eyeing Kent Huskins, and Eric Fehr will get plenty of attention

Interesting suggestion

Kent Huskins is a local kid, so of course Murray will sign him!

And he will not take shifts off with Turris and Alfredsson. He might with Spezza though

He takes too many shifts off and he'll be lucky to be playing on the 4th line with MacLean in charge though. I guess it'll be with Alfredsson, but I'd much rather Silfverberg there. I guess 3 RH players on one line doesn't really do it with Turris, Alfie and Silf.

Really, really interested to see how Latendresse (and Silf) handle this. Huge opportunity obviously.

He doesn't hit much for a 6'4" guy, what's the scouting report?

Stay away from anyone named Fehr. Seriously!
