Murray is slowing down in a big way. You trade youth for youth or value for value, Murray has neither.

No way would I give up Bishop over Anderson. I'll take the 26 year old goaltender over the 33 year old. Either way a fantastic problem to have.

I wouldn't be upset if they traded Bishop but if it was me I would be keeping Bishop simply because of age and potential. There is something to be said for an experienced guy to play with Lehner... I'll buy into that.

It didn't make much sense to me when we got Bishop, but it worked out. Now, the time has come to turn him into a different asset, bring up Lehner as backup to Anderson and let Lawson take the ball in the AHL.

It all makes sense, maybe too much sense IMO. Lehner's ready, but doesn't need to come up until next year, Bishop will be a great backup who can also be traded if need be and Anderson's still the guy with the NHL experience and success to help this team into a post season spot hopefully.

Who cares if the organization owes Lehner? They don't anyway, they've been patient, now he needs to continue to be focused so he can be THE guy for the next 15 years.

Either way, Ottawa basically has 3, #1 goaltenders right now. Something needs to give because Ottawa needs a D man and they have 1 extra goaltender. Only place that really needs a goaltender is Chicago... they also have an extra piece Ottawa needs. You can make a case for NYI and maybe they would be willing to let go of Strait for the right price but I doubt it.

We'll see I guess. One thing is certain, Gonchar just became very valuable to Ottawa and he's having a solid season in Russia so he will come back in full stride.

Agreed. Streit's really, really old though. Pretty big risk I would imagine. Something doesn't HAVE to give right now, they could do it this summer...prepare yourself for that. They might try to get this team by with Wiercioch and Benoit or whoever has the best showing.

They played well with those 2 on the blueline a couple seasons ago and they are in mid season form now. IMO that's the best option.

Anderson still shouldn't be starting opening night though.

If you are in a race and everyone is in a paddle boat, but you have a boat with a motor on it waiting... why wouldn't you use that. Seems pretty stupid to follow the "everyone else has this problem" theory. You can get off to a fantastic start and that's all that will matter come April.

I'm looking right at Anaheim and wonder if they are going to rebuild or not. They won't keep their 2 best players until the off season if they feel they are not going to re-sign. Murray might send Zibanejad for Perry. I wouldn't mind sending or 1st and another prospect in a package that gets Sbisa back.

As for Anderson, I am not convinced yet this would be a good idea right away. I still remember the Habs trading Huet mid-season and Price having an awful year the year after when success went over his head. I think I'd trade Bishop because 1/ he probably has more value than Anderson and 2/ we all know Lehner is the future
