Agreed, but experience is lacking big. I would expect them to kick the tires on a vet D-man.

This is a season where experience won't be needed because no one has any playing a 48 game season. If there was ever a year to throw your rookies into the lineup this is it.

I do think they need a vet D man... what's going to go out the door for one where a team takes back a piece they need? #1 goaltender off the bat would be Anderson.

A Anderson for Hammer trade makes a lot of sense.

That's a playoff team considering what Ottawa has up front.

Lehner's been patient and so has Bishop. Time to reward them for the work they have done and the way they have played. Like it or not they are better options than Anderson right now and will be for a month or so.

Also, the reason you move a goaltender now (Anderson) is to plug a huge hole on the blueline. Hammer would be perfect.

We saw how long it took Weircioch to get used to the AHL, I wouldn't be so sure that he can step in to a top 4 role right away.

Maybe not, that's why you go out and get a guy like Hammer from Chicago. Plugs the left side of the blueline in the top 4 perfectly.

Not giving Lehner a legit chance to be the #1 is wrong though. He's done in the AHL, he's done EVERYTHING the organization asked him too, and keeping him down in Bingo is a waste of everyones time.

Trade Bishop.

Douglas Murray is either 5 or 6 on the depth chart in SJ and he is a UFA next year. Looking at their G depth and cap situation a Bishop for Murray deal makes alot of sense, not to mention the history of Murray and Wilson.

Yeah, I like his style.

Murray is slowing down in a big way. You trade youth for youth or value for value, Murray has neither.

No way would I give up Bishop over Anderson. I'll take the 26 year old goaltender over the 33 year old. Either way a fantastic problem to have.
