Hmm, Lehner has passed Barry Brust for the best SV% in the AHL. Brust has been lights out in a tandem role. Kinda the Brian Elliott of the AHL.

It's not just Boro. They are down 2-0 after 1, having taken 4 penalties and trailing 13-3 in the shot count. You can't take that many penalties.

BTW, Wiercioch with a PPG (on a 4-minute PP) and Prince have tied it up. 2-2 after 2.

Damn, didnt even know they were playing.

It will be nice when the let out the schedule.
I have to agree but it's not just him. there seems to be so many guys in bingo and heading there that look lie they could make it to the NHL. i can't remember being able to stare at our prospect pool and feel like it's pact. we could an elite caliber forward and a blue chip defencemen but we'll have cowen back soon.

Yup, the Sens prospect pool looks solid. I don't think there is anything elite there besides maybe Silfverberg but all very solid prospects and a lot of future NHLers. There are about 6 or 7 guys up front that will more than likely be in Ottawa at some point.

The guy that will be on the team at some point in the next year or so that people are always over looking is Grant. That's the Sens new Chris Kelly. That's the guy that will play on the 3rd and 4th lines and be used in a PK role. Wouldn't even be surprised if they carried him along this year as the 13th or 14th forward.

yes i was saying we could USE an elite forward right now. i'm not sure silf is that at all. more likely a very good 2nd liner at best on a stacked team. but the bottom 6 is looking silly. plenty of guys ready to come up on call-ups. that's good depth.
it will be interesting to see IF there's a trade to acquire a winger for spezza who will be heading out of our prospect pool.

May not after today. B-Sens lost 5-2. Lehner was in net. Too bad.. Syracuse wasn't playing today. Was their chance to win one of the games in hand to move within 2 pts of Syracuse.

Was a chance to get a win before they lose at least 3 of their key players to the NHL.. Bishop, Silfverberg and one of Weircioch or Benoit.

That must be why they lost. 5-2 (5th one was an empty-netter). Giving up 30 shots in the first two periods is a recipe for disaster. Overall, outshot 41-25. Benoit and Wiercioch must have been reading this thread in-between periods as they were each -3 on the afternoon. And just like that, Lehner is now tied with Brust in SV%. The Heat don't play until Friday, which is the earliest Brusty will play. Bingo plays Wednesday and then Friday, but who knows, Lehner may be at camp Wednesday.

I wonder what happens to the AHL ASG given how many of the players likely to earn spots are going to be playing in the NHL.

Minds are elsewhere. No way it doesn't creep in whether or not those are the guys that get the call up or not.

Even Bobby Mac just said they may have to make a move to fill that bottom pairing position with a vet. Maybe they d out and grab a Ballard but they need to do it soon if they do.

Weircioch and Benoit should be up with the big team but yah, they may need help.

Moving Bishop for a legit D man wouldn't be a bad move but it can't be a short term move. Again, I'll use Hammer from the Hawks as the example.

One thing is for sure, who ever is in nets is going to have to play well off the hop. Quick start is so important.

Not sure how he's feeling these days, but I'd put Regin in the top 6 to start the season until Silfverberg gets on a roll

Silfverberg has been playing since day 1 and is getting used to the NA ice, you keep him up in the top 6 for sure.

On another note, rumours of Gonchar to the Pens are starting to surface again. If they can move him straight up for Niskanen that's not a bad move and it makes sense.

I would imagine those two yeah, with Boro and Gryba in the wings.
What about Ceci? Or not ready yet...
