Not sure how he's feeling these days, but I'd put Regin in the top 6 to start the season until Silfverberg gets on a roll

Silfverberg has been playing since day 1 and is getting used to the NA ice, you keep him up in the top 6 for sure.

On another note, rumours of Gonchar to the Pens are starting to surface again. If they can move him straight up for Niskanen that's not a bad move and it makes sense.

I would imagine those two yeah, with Boro and Gryba in the wings.
What about Ceci? Or not ready yet...

I think he might get a look but he's not ready.

Do they sign a guy like Huskins? Makes sense. Just need a guy who can do the job on the bottom pair.

Minds are elsewhere. No way it doesn't creep in whether or not those are the guys that get the call up or not.

3rd game in 3 nights... probably contributed as well.

i don't know about everyone else but Jay Boo still rings in my head a a possible target. i think he could do well under Mac. plus calgary might be looking to clear some space sooner rather then later. might not cost us too much.

Jbo... meh, maybe. It's an option but they need help on the blueline right now and it has to be long term because after this season Gonchar is gone as well.

Yikes, you're right. Who comes up with these schedules?

Same thing as if they were injured... replacements...

In post-Soviet Russia ...

Did a search for Gonchar on twitter and found this:

Ryan Wilson ‏@GunnerStaal wrote:

@Bernardi2717 there are a lot more teams in worse shape than us. Despres and Morrow aren't far off Could always flip Lovejoy for Gonchar

I think Lovejoy was undrafted, so no idea aht his "pedigree" is. He has size (6'2", 214) and is a rightie, and is 28 years old. Why would some (I assume) Penguins fan think they "could always flip" Lovejoy for Gonchar -- is he a good prospect (at that age)? Anything here worth even thinking about? I think we would get more out of Pittsburgh than anyone else. Gonchar was playing with Malkin, and they both got player of the month for December.

A little funny.....

@walsha: Ottawa's Milan Michalek was on the Ceske Budejovice team bus on the way to a road game when he got the call that the lockout was over. Milan asked for the bus to pull over at a gas station, said his good-byes, got his equipment off the bus and had a friend come get him.

trading Gonchar for Lovejoy is an awful idea.

That's what I thought. I thought uninformed fans were mostly in Leafs Nation Wink

It doesn't have to be long term right now, there's tons and tons of time to replace Gonchar and then Phillips. People are overreacting right now.

We'll get someone in the summer who can fill one of the voids, the other ones will come internally.

Seriously, with half of our defense being new guys/ rookies, a basically 5 day training camp and no exhibition games, I expect a lottery pick. That's my realistic expectations.

Not sure how that's gonna work with the 14 other teams who sucked last year in there -and you have to have faith in Mac, Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek, etc. What's wrong with a top 4 of Methot, Karlsson, Phillips, Gonchar anyway? Or am I being too optimistic? We're missing Cowen, that hurts a lot, but Lundin will be back soon.

We lost Kuba and Cowen. Philips to me is not a top 4 anymore.
Penalty kill is what concerns me the most. Methot, Philips...then who? Gonchar can PK some bit... he also turns 39 in April. Kuba was playing in all situations last year and I don't think his minutes will easily be replaced.
We need to get a good top 4D. If Toronto gets Luongo and Montreal plays like they are supposed to, I think we go 10-12th ish in the East. I expect a bounce back from Tampa, Buffalo (Ryan MIller mostly)
