He's been in Hitchcock's doghouse for some time now, plus it seems he's a RW(and lazy from what I am reading).

That's a guy I would definitely give a long look if I were BM. Certainly fits the bill for a big, strong, gritty winger (well, the 2009-10 and 2010-11 versions of him, anyway). A RFA this coming year, too.

Getting away from Hitch may do him wonders. He was fine in St. Louis last year.

Forget Parise, forget Suter, forget Nash... Melnyk said he will not spend to the cap...

It's going to be hard to sign Karlsson if he goes for big bucks. I really can't see them letting him go.. as that would set the Sens back several years in their development.

Getting him away from the Blues is gonna cost you a ton. Just because he didn't work for them doesn't mean they'll give him away. It'd cost the 1st rounder + I would assume.

Actually I've been a fan of getting him all year, Hitch benching him just has me worried a bit. Reading St. Louis forums a lot of people think Hitchcock's system doesn't fit his playstyle although MacLean demands "200ft players" as well.

He definitely seems the type of player we'd want (he scores a lot off the rush or in front of the net). I wonder what it would cost (or if St. Louis even trades him). We've got some trade history with St. Louis (Rundblad and Bishop) as well that's a plus.

Yeah... don't think so, not that high. The guy has been in and out of the line up, playing 4th line minutes, for months, and he's getting paid almost $3 mil to do it. There will be no 1st rounders changing hands to get that guy, I'd say.

I have to say I'm warming up a bit more to the thought of Penner, too. He's proving his worth right now, that's for sure. Guy plays in the playoffs.

Adding two big, tough, gritty scorers like that to our team -- both on cheaper, shorter deals -- would instantly make us better, especially in the playoffs.

Stewart, like Byfuglien, has a history of carrying too much body fat. That may be a reason he is struggling this season. But he normally is a 200 ft player, a scorer, and a physical player. He is also said to have good work ethic.

Penner is playing ok right now, but he still only gets like 11 minutes a night. They don't trust him with more.

If St. Louis shops him around the price may go up that high (like it did with Turris) and we're out of 2nd round picks Laugh1

even if he did cost a 1st - I'd do that.

I'm almost 100% certain the cost would be a 1st +, not just a 1st, a 1st plus a prospect. I know what you're saying, but the price will still be high whether or not he had a good year (IMO).

Better get expectations high, then, because if Stewart brings in that, then Regin is going to bring back a 1st or 2nd, too.

Uh...really? Regin's not close to a former 28 goal scorer...not comparable. Not once, but two years in a row he had 28 goals, this was a dip in his production this year.

The guy is a healthy scratch. He is done in STL. It's not going to take a 1st rounder, is my point.

If there's a bidding war the price may go up to a first. The market will set the price.

Man, if that's true we should be all over it, but sadly that's not the way it's gonna work. Armstrong will shoot for a 1st + mid-level prospect and get the 1st for sure IMO.

11 goals as a rookie - in 53 games, then 28 goals, then 28 goals, then he goes to a Hitchcock system and can't make it (still scores 15). I mean, look at the situation there, before Hitchcock 15 goals in 26 games for the Blues, then Hitch comes in and he hits a brick wall. Coincidence? Clearly not, but he's still considered a budding power forward. He's 24 years old - he won't even hit 25 until the end of October. There's NO way you're getting him for less than a 1st. It'll be a 1st + - IMO, you can 'book it'.

Anything less would be a steal IMO...I hope we get him for a 3rd + Da Costa or whatever, but I sincerely doubt it.

Gaustad got a 1st rounder Rooney... don't think it's so far out of the relm of possibilty Stewart gets one too. Varlamov was 1/2 packed to Russia and got a 1st.

GMs will do anything to get a player they want.

That said, I am in agreement with people, Stewart would look really good playing in the top 6 in Ottawa.
