I happen to really dig Michalek but I'm not sure that move would bother me too much. Let's look at the Rags supposed offer though: Dubinsky, Kreider, 1st...

Foligno, Zibaneblad, 1st... not far off, I'd say.

Edit: OK, I see that young Riprock agrees with me, as usual. Cheers

Problem is, while I absolutely love Nash, trading 9MM for Nash is almost a lateral move, and as good as he is and can be on a good team, you'd probably want to add Nash on top of the top 6 you already have, not subtract.

And yeah it would be ridiculous if the Sens could trade for Nash AND sign Parise July 1. Not sure they'd have much cap room to do that (and re-sign Karlsson), but wow...

I think the least of our problems are finding the assets and having the cap space. The real problem is that The Nasher is probably too much of a big shot for Ottawa.

I vote for Parise.

A trade means you have the guy though, a UFA is a crap shoot.

If Nash goes anywhere, I bet it's Philly.

My gut says he does not move. He controls his destiny. But you never know.

Shows what you know. According to twitter, Nash is headed to the Big Smoke "to live his childhood dream..." of playing for the dirty Leafs. The cost will be a token pick because it's not like he would go anywhere else anyway.

Yeah, but giving up a Z-Bad (plus picks, etc) for Nash…is that going to put us "over the top"? Probably not. So does it make sense to wait a little longer and see what these prospects turn into? Yes. Also, it gives us time to improve at no cost (other than cap space) via free agency.

If we're going to make a big splash via trade, I would rather it be for a stud defenceman. Our top two lines may be filled via free agency and our own prospects more easily than our blueline.

Heh. Every trade rumour adds the Leafs by default. I'm sure The Genius is hard at work...

I like Nash....but he's on pace for a whopping 56 point season. And he hasn't exactly been MVP like the last couple of seasons either. Long-Donkey term too on his contract. Michalek + Pick is do-able for me.

Doesn't have to be. These things just fall on his lap because he's such a genius.

If the price is right, you do it. But the price is NOT right for Nash. I'm not willing to give up our high-end prospects for him, especially Z-Bad. I'd trade Silf though.

I'd go with the UFA crap shoot instead of the crap trade for Nash

If anyone actually knew what the exact price is, it would be easier to agree with you.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Silf will be better than Z-Bad. I have nothing to back that up though. Laugh1

There's almost no turning back now for C-Bus and Nash.

Where will he end up...?

I was going to say the same. Just a gut feeling I guess.

So MANY teams could theoretically land Nash. Tough to call a destination for that player. Heck, even the Bruins, as good as they are, have plenty of prospects to make that deal and barely touch their lineup. Ditto for the Flyers.

No turning back now? Of course there is. All that Columbus has indicated is that they are going to listen to offers (and I'm not even sure they've said that). Most of this is just media-fuelled buzz.

If they get a good offer, why wouldn't they do it? If the offers aren't up to snuff, Nash isn't going anywhere. Don't forget that Nash's contract is big, and that could limit some teams' interest.

Silfverberg is better than Zibanejad right now. Nobody knows who will be better. Someone can say "x will be better than y" but until that happens, it's no guarantee.

And you can say that Zibanejad has an upside of being a top line winger, but until that happens, hes just a long-term prospect.

I'd take Nash over him right now anyday.
