Players that big who can score don't grow on trees. If he played on a good team with good players, coaching and a winning attitude he'd be better, he was good in the Olympics. I think you're underrating him a bit, he's played for the biggest joke franchise in the NHL his whole career.

I'd only trade him if all we needed was a top-6 forward like Rick Nash to be a legit Cup contender.

However since we need a lot more than Nash I'll pass.

If we need more than just Nash, that means Nash would be piece of the bigger puzzle. So then wouldn't it make sense to build the puzzle piece by piece, if you can get a piece now?

We'd be giving up too many prospects/draft picks, many of whom are expected to be those missing pieces.

Nash will be close to 35 by the time we're in (or should be in) serious contention wasting his prime years.

Expectations are one thing, living up tho them is another. We'd be lucky for one of these so called prospects to actually become as good as we expect.

So you think the Sens are 7-8 years from contention? That's silly.

A few years at least... which would put Nash on the wrong side of 30. We're 3rd worst in the league in goals allowed, that doesn't scream contender to me.

Reducing our prospect pool to John Muckler levels isn't to get us anywhere, and I trust Murray at the draft table a lot more than at the deadline. I think more than just one will turn out to be an NHLer.

Don't forget Nash is good at both ends of the ice and a leader. So he will help out offensively and defensively. Plus one can only expect that his stats will go up on a better team.

Oh I have little doubt Nash would be productive here, although I have doubt whether he's a good leader considering how Columbus is and the stories coming out.

I don't know man. Clearly he isn't that great of a leader. Team's a mess forever.

Nash is clearly a lot better than Michalek though

Those guys make way more sense than the "bigger names" rumoured out there.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see LAK make a move on a Nash/Carter and moving out "Pancakes" as a cap dump.

Ottawa would be a good fit in that scenario, imo.

^ Ya, I'd take him if it was just a dump.

"Evel" Knuble eh?

Penner would probably be the ideal top 6 guy the Sens need right now. Won't cost a lot, could resign, and has the potential to put up 20-25 goal a season.

Knuble would be a good add to any team, but I can't really see the Caps trading him if they are still in the race.

Zidlicky has agreed to waive his NTC to go to the Devils. Trade hasn't happened yet though.

Makes sense, if any team needs a PMD it's NJ.

Unfair to say that the team's mess is all on him. Do you think Alfredsson would have made any difference?

Team's had coaching changes, roster overhuls, poor management... lots of issues. Nash didn't coach, didn't draft, didn't control payroll....
