Your guess was much more specific than that. Sneaky

Was it?

Edit: Oh yeah, we have a bet...

I hope you're prepared to lose that one. Laugh1

We'll see. So, just to refresh my memory, you win if he re-ups in Carolina for more than 2 years at more than $4M per, and I win in every other scenario. Got it. Nod

Yeah, that's it.

We'll see. What's your actual guess out of curiousity?

I don't think he'll re-sign. There's too little in the trade pool this year. I think he'll be more valuable in a trade.

I may have misunderstood the bet lol. I thought it was more than 4 * 2 anywhere, not just Carolina. Suddenly I don't love my odds but w/e

I can't write on that BlackBerry anymore...

I think they should sign him personally - to around 4.2 X 4 and call it a day. He's a top player on their team and he'll only help going forward + there's no one out there for them to get in on who brings the same style of grit and net presence in free agency. Between him, Staal, Jokinen and of course Skinner, they have a pretty decent forward core. Ward is amazing as well, so they're set there.

What they need are 2 good D-men to go with Pitkanen and Gleason and McBain/Faulk (sp?). If they can get them this summer and perhaps sharpen their top 9 a bit, I think they're looking pretty good to challenge for the POs next year.

So, was reading on Spectors blog that according to a Dallas report, it was suggested that the Stars should target Dubinsky if he is available.

Well, if he is available, I would hope that the Sens would look into that.

Why on earth would they trade Dubinsky? And what would the cost be Morrow ++?

PS - I've always LOVED Robidas, if he's available, he'd be so perfect here!

My only guess is that the Rangers would move him to make room for a Bobby Ryan or Suter/Weber/Parise.

I am not a fan of the Rangers for the simple fact that it seems like Sather lacks foresight and only worries about the team's roster one year at a time. While he's managed to absolutely steal contracts from players like Staal and Dubinsky he loads up on talent and contracts and finds a way to make it all work later. I can't wait for it to blow up in his face and he has to lose some great players.

But if the sens couldn't get Parise, (and Nash was also out of the question) I woud want B-Dubs.

Dubinsky would take Zibanejad - perhaps a + in there too. Still want him?

Tough decision. I wouldn't want to do the Rangers any favours, especially since they want to upgrade and blow their wad on a huge player like Nash, Parise, Suter, Weber, etc.

I'd much rather take my chances on an unproven Zibanejad, or even better hoping to sign PArise in the off-season.

I think if they trade Dubinsky, there's a couple of +++ in there and they get a huge player.

Well, I think this is all moot anyways since Murray said he won't be buying, unless someone offers him a worth while deal. But safe to say he won't pursue anything.

If and when he makes changes, I think July 1 is that period.

It's not as black and white as that:

SENS AT THE DEADLINE

Ottawa’s slide down the standings has certainly tied the hands of GM Bryan Murray. He can’t commit to being a buyer or seller at this point with his team on the playoff bubble.

"The one thing we have is a plan going forward, we think we know that we have some young kids coming that are valuable and we’re not going to trade them," Murray told ESPN.com earlier this week. "We’ll see if there’s anything that makes sense, but in all likelihood it’s status quo at the moment, anyway."

In a perfect world, if the Senators can climb back up the standings over the next two weeks and gain more comfort from the danger zone, they’ll look to add a forward.

"We’ll see, we’ll let it play out here," Murray said. "If we bounce back, we may have to make a different decision. But at the moment, we’re just going to hold and see if we can get our better players to play better."

Murray hasn’t sat on his hands over the past month, though.

"I did make a couple of calls," Murray said. "I found out an approximate price. It’s not cheap. I don’t know how many trades there are going to be this year, but the people selling are going to have high demands. It sounds like that anyway."

Dubinsky is a nice player, but he isn't that scoring winger we need. Dubinsky has 22 pts in 49 games this year so far. He's more of a gritty, checking, leadership type guy, and I think we can agree that's what we don't need. Plus, he makes $4.2M.
