Geez, we're missing so many D-men it's starting to get silly. Wiercioch out?

well they have overachieved IMO, but to have a 3-1 series lead in the 2nd round....can't blow this opportunity. You gotta go all out and just need one stinking victory. Although my confidence is a little lower in these guys while they have several green d-men in Cowen, Boro, Turner and Raymond. And the Daug is out!

Joy tweeted that Daugavins and Bass are game-time decisions but Daugavins is almost definite. I asked for a clarifications -- almost definite playing or sitting?

Looking at the D pairings I'm a little concerned:

Cowen-Benoit
Borowiecki-Kinrade
Raymond-Turner

A guy from junior who hasn't played a single game in the AHL and doesn't know the team yet is playing top-pairing minutes. An NCAA call-up is on your second pairing. And a guy who's not eve on the team's roster page (Turner) is on the third pairing.

But at least they're going with 6D. Hopefully Cowen is an upgrade over Wiercioch. Lehner will appreciate 6'5" and 220 patrolling the area in front of him.

Wow, no Hale, Wiercioch, Smith, Gryba, or Schira (am I missing anyone else?). No wonder we got stomped last game. Pretty big opportunity for Cowen, tho'.

Kleinendorst said Lehner will be on a "very short leash" tonight. Bass and Daugavins both game-time, but Daugavins almost definite. #BSens

He's had him there for a while. Perhaps Lehner thrives under pressure. Who knows.

Not to me personally, but we have to give KK the benefit of the doubt.

I think the forwards are going to have to take responsibility as well on the defensive side. That's a pretty green crop of D.
If Cowen struggles, they will probably move him down in the pairings. You know for sure Portland will shoot the puck on Cowen's side...

Maybe, but I just don't get the point of saying someone is on a short leash. You show it in the game, not announce it beforehand...unless he's trying to please the angry bingo fans.

Shoot the puck on Cowen's side?

IMHO I think that's the last thing they want to do. Mancari and Adams will already be Cowen's targets, if they make his life easier by coming to them, I think they'll pay a heavy toll. Bond

Some pictures from game 3 have been posted on FaceBook. I see some O-Snes jerseys in a couple of shots. Are some of them the 33 brave road warriors who went down to Bingo?

This will be Cowen's first AHL game. While I think he's got a ton of potential, it's unrealistic to expect it to be all realized in his first game.

That said, he's big, he's quick, and we don't have to tell him it's the other Portland.

Meh, I doubt he'll look too out of place. He may get exposed by some of Portland's high end guys once or twice, but I don't expect them to willingly dump it into his corner.
