LOL I expect Anderson to request something around 3.5, I think Niemi's cup ring gives him an edge in terms of $$$ (in his agent's eyes anyway). I think Halak got something between 3.5 and 4.

I'd say 3 years minimum for him, he already turned down a 2 year deal.

I'd also love to know what crystal everyone is looking into that says Lehner will be guaranteed to be ready within 2 years.

Lehner should be up with the Sens in Anderson's final year and take the #1 job from him(if he can), he shouldn't have it handed to him by any means.

Just like he has to take the #1 job from Brust in Bingo.

I would never argue with that, there's no rush at all with Lehner. He's 19, he needs to spend 2 more years in the AHL working on everything, then a year backing up Anderson at least. It doesn't matter if he lights the AHL on fire, there's a lot to learn IMO, young goalie always hit a brick wall if they're brought up too quick. This is another reason I LOVE the Anderson move - it means that we're not gonna rely on a 19 year old in front of a rookie D next year.

They could try to trade Dany Heatley. Laughing3

He's on pace for 26 goals wow Laughing3

That trade request may end up to be one of the greatest things ever to happen to the franchise at this rate.

BTW Michalek was on pace for 23 goals had he played a full season.

Maybe if we got anything of value for him in return.

How about not having that massive contract on the books for the next few years for an ever declining performance ?

I would take Michalek over Heatley all things condiered. Michalek is a better player than Dany Heatley.

I'm perfectly happy with Michalek. We haven't even seen the best of him yet.

Michalek is a better player than Healtey, plain and simple. Michalek was coming off a knee injury and was sitll on pace to hit the 20 goal mark at basically 1/2 the cost of Heatley. Add in that he is a better skater, more physical, had a better attitude, and just generally plays the game better than Heatley does.

Sure, Heatley may put up a few more points but the fact of the matter is he provides nothing else, he's a cancer, his contract is one of the worst in The NHL now, and Ottawa is in better shape without him than they ever could be with him.

That's not too bad, actually. Not that many games left and it could mean a few more beers sold from now until season's end at least.

It'd be a lot more effective if they talked about hockey in April and beyond.

Jack Skille and Dmitri Kulikov ? Sign me up !

Does that mean his role has been diminished ? Sarcasm

Bingo. Not to mention Michalek's a heck of a player if the poor bastard could stay healthy.

A few more points? He had more goals than Michalek had points last year. We're just gonna throw out every year Heatley has had before this season? The Sharks have been weird as a team the whole season...even Jumbo Joe only has 52 points. I know Michalek does things better than Heatley, but overall I feel it's not even close still. They wouldn't have traded Michalek if they thought he was better than Heatley.

Chris Kelly does all those things better than Heatley too...does that make him a better player? No.

Comparisons are flawed because we're comparing very different salaries, and unfortunately the going rate cannot be normalized to goals scored or points -- what I mean to say is that a 30 goal scorer will cost you more than double a 15 goal scorer, and a 50 goal man will be more than double a 25-goal man (which, incidentally, shows that Fisher -- a 20-25 goal scorer, was overpaid at $4.2M).
