Wow, wonder what Karlsson is worth?

That's what I've been trying to warn people about. I could see Karlsson getting a LONG term contract at Keith money because Keith's contract is the comparable. Cue the people saying that Keith is way better and so on...doesn't matter, Keith's contract is the comparable for young, ultra-talented D-men where the organization is buying a couple of RFA years and a lot of UFA years. 10 years, 52 million total is my guess - and the closer we get to his UFA years, the more likely that figure is to go up, so the 2nd contract becomes more of an obstacle than a blessing.

Not Keith money, no way. We'll see what happens next year, but I would say that if Rundblad has a good first year, if Karlsson asks for too much, he could very well be traded away with the depth Ottawa has on D.

Haha, as we talk Rundblad puts the puck over the glass with a minute to go and the other team ties it up.

As for Karlsson, it will be a major balancing act for the incoming GM to try to determine when to offer the long term deal. I assume if we can get away with a LOT less up until his final RFA year, then do something long term, that would be a better situation, but you've seen how often the 2nd contract can disappear, they might just end up biting the bullet on him sooner rather than risk his price going skyward before we've negotiated a long term deal.

A lot will have to do with Rundblad and even Cowen and Wiercioch - as you say, if they feel he'll be asking too much, they might deal him, I certainly wouldn't be overly surprised.

Silfverberg has 2 assists now (on two Jarnkrok goals...wanted him last year!).

Rundblad's team wins! Erixon with the goal. DR7, 1 goal, 1 assist, +3 + 1 bad timed penalty.

Cussed if I know! I think it's a 7 game series. Lalalala

From wikipedia:

The Elitserien Playoffs is an elimination tournament, where two teams battle to win a best-of-seven series in order to advance to the next round. The first round of the playoffs, or quarterfinals, consists of the first seed choosing which team to play from the seventh or eighth seed; the second choosing from the remaining two lowest seeded; the third choosing between the remaining two lowest seeded after second's pick; and the fourth playing the sole remaining team. In the second round, or semifinals, the teams are re-seeded, with the top remaining seed playing against the lowest remaining seed, and the other two remaining teams pairing off. In the third round, the finals, the two remaining teams face each other.

In each round the higher-ranked team is said to be the team with the home-ice advantage. Four of the seven games are played at this team's home venue — the second and fourth, and, when necessary, the fifth and seventh games — with the other games played at the lower-ranked team's home venue.

That's an interesting twist. The higher seed gets to choose between the two lowest seeds... If you get upset in the first round, its your own fault, you picked em!

Chara with a huge hit on Pacioretty..hasn't moved in a bit, pulled off on a stretcher. It looks really bad

That was awful. Definitely suspension-worthy, though Johnson did that to Smyth a few years back and didn't get anything IIRC.

If that was intentional...man...

I don't think it was, I mean no person in their right mind would think about doing something like that in a split second...
Doesn't matter though, any player should be aware of where he is on the ice so there's no excuse.
Intentionally or not, he deserves suspension because he could have killed him.

A top team's captain and star player? 2 or 3 games probably, 5 at the max.

I personally think that hit is being completely overblown, Chara was booted from the game, should be good enough. I don't really think it was all that malicious.

Agreed. I, along with most media people/experts, believe there was no intent and it was just unfortunate that the partition was there.

In slow motion you can see Chara shove MaxPac's head right into the glass.

Chara was going after Max all game from that OT goal in january, he took a few swings at him and then slashed in the same game.

You could definitely make a case that Chara was headhunting.

Can't really say if there was intent to injure but he was going after him all night. It's no coincidence these two were involved.

I don't think he touches his head at all, actually. From the one angle it only looks like that because his glove is in front of Paciorrety's head, but from the overhead it looks like Pacioretty's head just goes into the partition by itself. He was just rubbing him out on the boards, he definitely deserved 2 minutes for interference though.

Bobby Mac on the hit:

The hit was late. It was interference. It caused injury and while the design configuration of the boards and glass played a pivotal role in the severity of the injury, the responsibility is still with the hitter.

So two games is my call. No one will like it. Works for me.

That works for me, too. Two game suspension. Chara's not entirely at fault, nor without blame. He pays a little more because of the outcome. Done and done.
