What could we get from Chiarelli for Fisher? What would we have to add for Toronto's 1st?

Phillips + Fisher for a 1st....

Not a huge stretch when Kimmo Timmonen and Scott Hartnell combined to fetch Nashville their 1st round pick back. Both were unsigned UFAs. In this case Boston gets a pending UFA (CP4) and Fisher (2 more years). Timmonen > Phillips and Hartnell is arguably a better scorer than Fisher, and more consistently so. And Nashville's 1st was the 23rd overall, which would mean Boston's 1st is the most likely one they would trade. I cannot see them trading TOR's 1st (who would?) unless getting a guy drafted in the top 5 last year, or one of the top draft picks/prospects in the league). It would honestly have to be similar to the Rundblad trade, but better. Basically, you would have to blow Chiarelli's socks off, and that would mean Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, Kane, Backstrom, etc etc.

Boston *needs* a center, and does Pittsburgh. Not the same situation.

Not necessarily...Pitt just needs a forward in general.

Then Pittsburgh better get ready to pay up.

I still think having 3 centers combining for ~21.4 million dollars is ridiculous.

Looks like he is done for the rest of the season...

According to a source.

No Crosby, no Malkin... and no goals as the Pens were shutout by the Caps yesterday 3-0.

All we need now is for the Flyers and Habs to lose a center and the bidding war can begin.

Boston may be a reasonable landing spot for Fisher...if we are even considering trading Fisher. Any team looking for a "scoring" forward would be best advised to look elsewhere.

I still kinda doubt that we'll see Fisher moved though.... A lot of salary for a third-line centre.

Could you imagine, though, Fisher on Crosby's wing? Then move Staal up to 2nd and play the more-traditional 2-scoring lines, a checking line (tough not to have Staal there, I agree) and an energy line?

I agree that Fisher's lack of finish would not help Boston but, who knows. It's Chiarelli, after all. He took Schaeffer off our hands.

The problem is Fisher's term. Two more years @ $4.2M per. I doubt Pittsburgh or Boston want that going forward.

According to Dreger, Boston's calling a 2pm presser to announce Savard is done for the season.

"Marc Savard and the Bruins will announce he's done for the season this aft at a 2pm media conf."

Kovalev was supposed to be Crosby's winger so doesn't that pretty much kill that "deal"?

They can't pick him up after the deadline so if they have any interest it will get done to have Kovalev in place for Crysby's return.

That report says he sustained a concussion after being driven into the boards by Hedman? I thought it was the Winter Classic. Are they still trying to say he didn't get injured then? Are they trying to protect the refs and the league or something?

A bit ambiguous there I guess... he certainly got one at the Winter Classic, but it went undetected, and then Hedman added to it, creating the situation they're in now. I suspect they're trying to avoid saying they Cussed up and he should not have played after the Winter Classic.
