7 years, 6.5 million per year is the offer - and I'm sure that's along the lines of what he's looking for.

It's just a fantasy anyway, it's never gonna happen unfortunately (or fortunately depending on where you stand on it).

i'd do it but swing rundblad instead of cowen. anyways that's like giving away 2 1st rounders. i'd even throw in a 3rd, but could we switch this years 1st for next year? who know where we'll be then but with a healthy spezza and parise and a re-tooled line-up we could be making the playoffs again. we might be sellers now but we'll be buyers july 1st.

No, this year's 1st would be a must for the Devils.

NY Post claims the Habs are after Arnott.

Who would you like back from the Habs? I'm not really a big fan of their prospects, would it just be a pick? I find the Boston option far more appealing.

Their 1st.

Josh Georges. Guy was their leader during the playoffs last year, that's for sure.

This is a good time to have healthy D, isn't it? Ole!

EDIT: And be out of the playoffs... Sarcasm

Yes indeed. SJ has to be in that war as well. I expect a nice return, I really do. Don't mess this up Murray.

Even with things the way they are, I would still put trading Phillips at less than 50% in terms of it actually happening. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him re-signed. You still need a top 4 D for next year and for years moving forward, to play on the ice & to school the new kids.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment, if you ask me, if you think this is a foregone conclusion.

The Sarcasm means I was joking.

Edit: In all seriousness though look at what happened with the Habs when they traded away Saku "irreplaceable" Koivu. They ended up giving the "C" to a practically brand new Hab.

The Sens are at least a couple seasons away from worrying about who'll take the "C" after Alfie so lots can change between now and then. There's nothing to indicate that Phillips will be back next season other than the fact that Phillips has said he wants to be here. No negotiations and no indication from the Sens side on what they plan to do with him.

Asking price for Fishlander, according to Dreger?

1st round pick +

Well, I don't see why that is funny. Obviously he's not a guy the Sens want to move, but that is drawing interest, so why not set the price high?

That goes for just about anything. You might have a really nice car worth $4000 market value, but it is worth more to you to keep it and would cost more to replace it... so if someone offers $4000, why would you sell it if you really don't want to? But if someone offered $10000 then maybe you would.

Looks like a poison pill to me. Which is funny, IMO. And tells me this team isn't serious about making changes.

You can make changes without moving everyone, and you also don't move a player for the sake of moving them without getting value in return.

Fisher's going to continue to be a good player to have on the team, at least until the time to move him comes.

To be honest I used to agree with you, can't say I do anymore. For all the flack Kovalev gets about disappearing on most nights, Fisher does just as much. This team wouldn't miss him that much at all, quite frankly.

Matt Cullen got a 2nd + and was a UFA, a signed Fisher has more value then that. A late 1st + a mid round pick is not out of the question (although I'm sure we would have to take salary back).

Seeing Kovalev on the board again makes me wonder who else will step up to ensure they have a job next season (elsewhere).

Players tend to start playing for themselves now that the season is pretty much pointless to the team.

And Kovalev has been given Fisher lessons on how to better disappear for stretches at a time.

I'm sure you and I chatted about that, I firmly believe that Fisher, Alfredsson and Gonchar are staying and that Phillips is going. Although, at this point, I wouldn't even be surprised if he got re-signed. It's not a rebuild, it's a re-tool.
