Fair enough, I didn't really know what his situation was, it didn't sound like he was close to coming back.

The general consensus is that they know they don't have a very good chance without Malkin. Crosby is good, but he isn't even with the team right now. Best case scenario is that in 3/4 weeks he starts playing again and even at that, how close to the Crosby of earlier this year will he be.

Everyone knows that a concussion takes a long time to recover from, and while you may be fit to return, it takes weeks if not months even after that point to regain the mental clarity it takes to play the game. Forget trying to play playoff hockey. They would be crazy to trade away picks and or prospects for a slight increase in chance to win this year. It's clear with major injuries to both their top players that they are at best a long shot to make the finals let alone win.

As for Crosby's return, no one can say he'll be back this year. If he were working out and with the team I'd agree there is a good chance, but I'd say with him being at home with his Mom and Dad weeks after the initial injury, he's at best 50/50 to return.

I think Dreger tweeted that Crysby is convalescing somewhere warm and sunny. I hope he's wearing really dark glasses.

Frolik just got traded for Skille. One of the only times I will listen to McGuire.

Yup, here's the full trade:

Hawks trade Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan to Panthers for Michal Frolik and Alexander Fralak Salak
And Isles pick up Al Montoya from Coyotes for a 5th rnd pick.

Not a good trade for Florida. Not at all.

I'm looking forward to seeing Montoya get consistent minutes on Long Island. His last and best chance at saving his once promising NHL career IMO.

For now IMO; they really have no other option. Koskinen didn't look good in his NHL debut and has terrible AHL numbers so far.

Montoya is far more ready and they will want to see what they traded for.
