I've been told that both Phillips and Fisher have at least been approached about the possibility of a trade. Both are apparently hesitant about the idea but that's to be expected for two guys that have been with the organization for so long.

Even though it is only Eklund's rumour, he says Boston/Chiarelli is pushing hard for Phillips.... how funny would it be if they traded us Toronto's 1st round pick?

They want him that badly -- Boston's 1st rd pick (not Toronto's).

I would take either of TOR's or BOS's 1st round pick, but obviously I would prefer Toronto's... not only because it is going to be the more valuable pick, but we would get the satisfaction of adding a player that Toronto could have had.

I would trade Kuba to SJ for Setoguchi easily. It's not even a tough decision. A young winger for a veteran d-man.

I would play Michalek and Setoguchi on Spezza's wings.

There's no question that Kuba for Seto makes us better. While I have reservations about Seto, that trade absolutely makes us better. Done in a heartbeat.

If we can turn Phillips into a 1st, that's a win. Obviously Toronto's would be amazing, but Boston's 1st is an easy decision too.

Mind you I think a 1st for Phillips is a stretch, but if no other defenceman are available, and he's in demand, then the price would obviously go up as a bidding war ensues.

Plus we can only hope that the Chiarelli-Ottawa connection means he really wants Phillips.

I'll tell you the team I could see doing that...Boston.

My only reason is they have 2 1st rounders this year and you know they are not going to give up the cherry that is the Leafs pick, so I could see them trading away Philips, but we'd either have to take more salary back or flip them somehting else.

Still....I'd play Montreal (if they are in the discussion) and Boston against one another. Hey Peter...Gauthier wants Phillips bad...he's prepared to give us a 2nd rounder plus a nice prospect...give me a 1st and I'll send him your way.

Otherwise he's going to MOntreal to make them that much better.

You guys should probably lower the expectations juuuuuuuuuust a lil bit. WE ain't getting any 1st round pick, there's not 1 tradable player in the roster that can fetch a 1st.
I'm guessing something along Zach Hamill or at best a 2nd rounder.

For the record, all I said was I would be shocked if Phillips wasn't traded. But I don't think your quote was referring to my post anyway.
