Trade Bonanza 2011! Speculation, Rumours, the Works!

Can we get some rumours here please, I need help! I'm gonna go to HB for my fix soon.

Rumour I read on hockeybuzz (from one of the commenters)-- yeah I know..

Semin to SJ for Pavelski -- who is then flipped to Ottawa for Gonchar.

Can't see that happening at all.. but would you do it if it was an option?

Kevin Allen, said, on a podcast on Hockeybuzz, that the Sens should have gone to Stevie Y a year ago and asked him to come onboard as a GM in waiting and that we should seriously consider Brendan Shanahan for the post. Considering Shany's rising stock as an NHL exec, I wonder what you guys think about him. I don't recall his name coming up in the speculation.

Yes, I think I would. Get rid of Gonchar, keep Phillips (or sign him in the summer after deadline trade) and add an able bodied top 6 forward to the ranks. Ship out depth in one position to add a position that's currently weak.

Ha, I guess. If he moves at the deadline and we get a scoring winger out of it....the re-tool take a giant leap forward - not that I want to move him necessarily, but if he turns into someone who can pot 40 goals on Spezza's wing...Dung dude.

Nowhere that's legit enough to comment on. Some guys I chat with are mentioning they're hearing things and Chirp was one of them recently. I'd keep an eye on this - and I will!

The sentiment regarding San Jose is that losing Rob Blake is a big reason for their struggles. I could see Gonchar going straight there. HBuzz is notorious for their 3-way trade penchant.

No way I would want the Sens to deal with SJ. They got shafted on the Heatley deal. Unless SJ overpays this time.. big time. Player + a pick for a potential powerplay specialist. Shall we say Couture? I know there is no way they get rid of him. But if I'm Murray that is where I start.

I want to settle the Heatley score as much as the next guy, but not at the expense of a deal that makes the Sens better. Pavelski for Gonchar straight up makes us better.

Also, tables turned, the Sens do the exact same thing to SJS that they did to us during the Heatley debacle. Wilson made a good trade for his team.

I would move him for just about anything. The guy's not playing well at all, and there's no need for him on Ottawa at his contract.

The guy retires at any point and we are stuck paying for it. I would much rather have $5M in cap to save for the future or pay someone younger.

I'd move him in a heartbeat. I never wanted him in the first place. If we can move his anchor of a contract I'd do without so much as a single asset in return.

I don't think you do unless it's a solid offer. Pavelski and I think we'd do it, but would the Sharks? Gonchar is a huge piece and IMO a fairly vital part of the Sens' future D - if only because it should be more of a puck possession style when Rundblad comes onto the scene. I think Gonchar can thrive in the next two seasons, but I also thought he would this year too. Tough call, it'll really depend on the return - and if Gonchar would even waive his NTC.

How's about Vancouver taking a run at Gonchar? Especially with Elder out indefinitely? I know that there are cap concerns.

That makes no sense at all. I dare you to think of a trade that works between vancouver and Ottawa that sees Gonchar ending up in Vancouver. I dare you??? Ridicuous suggestion!!!
