By the way, is your sig *supposed to be* 2002-2003 or were you going for 2012-13?

supposed to be 2002-2003. That was our best season ever....and yes that was our best shot to win the cup...even better than the time we went to the cup finals. That's why all my avatars are of players from that year...I long for those glory days

Friesen Dammit!

I replay that moment every day in my mind....just like 2 mins to go, redden leaves friesen open, lalime can't make the save. Moments before that, Brodeur stoens Hossa. I tell you what, the stanley cup finals were great, but the electricity in the Palladium was for some reason at another level in game 7 against NJ. Even the devils players remarked about it....it was crazy. Car flags flying everywhere, spezza making an impact, phillips with a great OT goal, and Ottawa on the verge of completing a 3-1 comeback as presidents trophy winners..... Crying

haha true true, BUT in terms of just how close we were....we were oh so close in '03.....that was the most heartbreaking game 7 ever and just the worst feeling ever to go down with 2 mins left (remember how most sens players just collapsed to the ice when the game was over...particularly hossa and volchenkov).

balls to the fact that sens couldn't win it for Roger Nielsen...but the Cussing devils were inspired cuz Joe Nieuwendyk was crying in the locker room. Oh well, they did have the legendary pat burns behind the bench

On a side note, that is the single greatest playoff series I have witnessed up to date...and its not just my bias for the sens getting in the way. How friggin' entertaining was that series? two of the best fighting till the end

Bob McKenzie: These Jarome Iginla trade rumors out of Montreal saying he has been or is being traded to NYR are utter nonsense. I grow weary. Smile about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®️

Dreger: @johnnyrocket03. Consider this...me shooting down the Iginla to NYR rumour.

Yup. I'm using players from that season as my avatars for the next little while. I give clues in my location for them. So far done lalime, hoss, and now havlat. Wonder who'll be next Thinking

Doesn't make a ton of sense anyway, doubtful the Rangers are going anywhere.

Hasek has a reputation of either quitting on his team or not playing through a some soreness.

He did it in Buffalo when he was fighting with Ted Nolan and a Buffalo newspaper columnist.

Also, some feel he could have bailed the Sens out in the playoffs against Buffalo in 2006 - Ottawa's most talented team IMO.

I remember that, but the point I think SD is trying to make is that if he hadn't gotten injured (therefore not having a reason to quit on the team), we may have made a serious push in the playoffs.

I have a hard time believing he quit on his team when healthy. For awhile there, he WAS the Sabres. He singlehandedly won an enormous amount of games for them over his tenure there when he was hands down the best in the league. Not playing through injury is something I'd be willing to accept, but healthy? I can't get there.

Fair enough. I wasn't saying that I believe he quits on his teams; but that is a popular consensus.

I think that Hasek didn't like playing through discomfort.

I don't like going to work in discomfort either. The difference is whether or not he actually didn't play through pain/discomfort.

You're the goalie guy, you can probably vouch for the fact that through the course of a long season, bumps, bruises, discomfort and injuries are unavoidable. It seems impossible to me to not play through some sort of pain/injury, especially for a contortionist like Hasek.

As far as him quitting on teams, I remember thinking that he should have at least tried to give it a go in the playoffs during his injury, but the thought that he quits on his teams just seems like a stretch. He was an unbelievable competitor.

This should be a real active thread given that the plan has been devised and that the wheels are in motion. Exciting times.

There hasn't been a Hollywood remake of this, yet. I'm afraid the younger members won't get that.
