Or you could step up and play better and lead by example on the ice too.

You could say what Foligno said, or Alfredsson or even the backbone Neil.

Foligno really impressed me with his comments. Sounds to me like an emerging leader in that locker room.

Foligno has always sounded good. Really took his media training seriously I guess.
And yet, some are judging his entire career on a 90 second video clip...SpezDispenser wrote:Phillips is genuinely upset, that's one of the first times I've seen him visibly upset. That sucks.

Just sayin'...

What impressed me was how thoughtful and aware he seemed. Both are leadership qualities; neither are teachable.

Everytime a Foligno discussion comes up, I try to calm people down by repeating that Foligno is a young power forward. It takes till about 25-28 years of age for your body to be able to play that style of game in the NHL effectively IMO.
Patience will pay off for Ottawa if they hold onto him for a couple more years; if not, timing will pay off for a rival team.

That shouldn't be a reason to impugn Phillips' leadership qualities though.

Any idea why he was drafted as a C and expected to develop as a LW?

I absolutely don't understand your comment.
