Just heard that the Sens will not be having a draft party this year. I guess that's what happens when SBP is booked with Cirqu de Soleil (sp?).
One of the most important drafts in team history and no draft party.
I guess we make our own.

It kinda blows, because you don’t need SBP to have a draft party. Just use one of the million sports bars in Ottawa. Oh well.

Edmonton had Taylor Hall show up to a draft LOTTERY party for god’s sake

Not sure if serious? Who has a draft pary for a 6th overall pick? I don't even think there are tons of draft parties in general, even for a first rounder. Seeing all those people pack Rexall just so they could hear Taylor Hall's name called was pretty lame IMO. It's just a draft.

Are you just gonna sit there and watch the draft on our Dung scoreboard? Yeah I'm liable to pay for that.

and I meant it's lame for a team to run it themselves...sure fans can run one if they want, but it's not necessary for a team to run a draft party. This isn't like the NBA or NFL draft.

It's not "lame", and it doesn't require much effort. It's just an opportunity to promote your product a little and connect with your fans (see: Taylor Hall at the 2011 Edmonton Draft LOTTERY party in a sports bar).

Yes, a first overall pick who was hyped for a long time. Not a 6th overall pick.

What I’m saying is Edmonton got Taylor Hall to go to a sports bar where a lottery party was being held. Not the actual draft, but the draft lottery. That’s pretty cool. Apparently the Sens players just aren’t that accessible. I think that’s why some higher ups in the Sens organization were canned lately. Just a void of new ideas coupled with non-existent relationships with the players.

Local Heroes had one last year with Chris Kelly signing autographs. Good way to not get traded is to be signing autographs. At least on draft day.
