Someone tell me why the hell I got into a long winded argument about our prospects vs Toronto's prospects with Leaf fans? Facepalm What a mentally challenged argument - I might as well have gone home and chatted with King (my cat).

Your cat would carry a better discussion than the leafs fans...no contest

These are the only hockey message boards I bother posting on. Anywhere else in the universe, and you're likely to get sucked in to a pointless argument with a Leaf fan.

I realized yesterday why I don't bother going to HF anymore - because of that - and other things, but mostly that. Plus, some of the Sens fans are great there - some are annoying bunghole.

Is King a Panthers fan?

The thing to do with annoying [insert other team name] fans out there is to point them to the AHL bracket. The Leafs' AHL club did not even make the playoffs. They were 5th in a division where the 4th place team didn't make it either (cross-over from the other division). How about the Habs? Well, their farm club made it to the conference finals but are down 0-2.

Plus two of our prospects just got silver at the Worlds. How many medals did Leafs prospects pick up? And Boston prospects or future draft picks don't count.

A good AHL team isn't necessarily representative of a team's prospect pool...but I get your point.

The actual thing to do, is not to bother. Has anyone, ever, at the end of these arguments said "oh yeah, good point, you were right this whole time"???

Ha, that would be cute if he went for the Panthers. He was an Emery fan, being a fellow 'brother' and was quite unhappy when the Sens canned his arse. He no longer seems to care though.

The argument never got to AHL affiliates - although that would have been a good point, it was too dumb an argument though, no need to continue with it. Some Leaf fans are just out to annoy and that has to be taken into account (I'm sure they're saying the same about some Sens fans).

As a matter of fact ... no, never.

All you have to point out is the success the B-Sens are having in the Calder Cup playoffs vs the success the Marlies are having in the pl.... whoops -- GOLFING.

Like tim said, unless your AHL team is filled with young prospects, it doesn't mean everything. Hamilton won the Calder Cup a few eyars ago, all it meant was Carey Price was God.

AHL is a developmental league but it's still a league of it's own with older players.

Isn't the AHL where prospects play? Those young players in the NHL I don't think count as prospects do they?

I didn't really want to to be honest. We were arguing about the Leafs being in the top 10 on HF and the Sens being at 16 - so we were going player for player. The AHL argument works for sure, but I felt there was more to gain by trumping their prospects one by one - and boy, they didn't like that at all. Smile

A lot "elite" prospects never actually play in the AHL anymore, they go right to the NHL after junior. Our prospects are playing overseas for example.
