Pretty sure Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, Jeff Skinner weren't "men among boys" either.

Yeah, I doubt Huberdeau or RNH are 'killing' it at the Combine.

RNH has been one of the most impressive by all accounts.

Couturier and Huberdeau not so much.

Also try to get Gudbranson. It has been reported he does not want to sign in Florida. So they will have to trade him or he will re-enter the draft if not signed by the deadline.

Package Weircoch -- plus whatever else is needed (within reason) to get him.

Imagine Gudbranson & Cowen in a couple of years as the shutdown pairing.... yeah.

Gonna take a heck of a lot more than a 2nd round pick to move from 6 into the top 3. Like...Nashville's 1st +.

It's 3 spots?

Think of it this way. If we'd ended up with the first overall, what would you think if we trading down to 4th for a 2nd round pick?

Which is A LOT of spots for the TOP of the draft.

A HUGE 3 spots. If you were Florida, would you move out of "franchise player" area and into Strome territory, what would you ask for? Damn...Florida could so use Couturier or Huberdeau or Larsson or RNH (if he falls). The one guy I'm not sold on them needing as badly is Landeskog.

So...if you were them and someone asked to move to 3 and you move to 6, what would you ask for?

Personally, I'd say no, the pick's not for sale for those reasons above, but if I did, I'd want Foligno and the 21st. No? Okay then, bye.

If it was 1 spot, an early second would probably do it. But 3 spots is a lot.

The most realistic opportunity to move up is with the Devils. They need to dump camp more than they need a "franchise" player (already have Parise, Kovalchuk).

We have the room and some decent, cheap players to sweeten the deal.

Yeah, that's quite true. A lot of good opportunities there, like Rolston for one. And if Melnyk complains, you just say that he's the top six guy for this year, if he gets hurt, we'll call someone up from Bingo. I don't see a huge issue with that for a decade of what has a good chance of being a franchise player.

Rolston is actually a nice player, although he has a no-trade. I suppose they could send him to the minors but the Devils aren't selling tickets...

Zubrus might be another option but that's an extra year. Again, a decent if overpaid player.

I wonder too if the increased cap (62.7 - 63.5?) will queer any potential deal anyway.

I'd be happy if we took one of the players that they can't afford off their hands if it meant that we could move up. Nod

Sorry boys and girls I have been away for a little bit, work's been crazy and life in general.

Anyways, if The Sens don't end up moving up to grab Landeskog I am telling you right now they will be picking Zibenejad in that number 6 hole, maybe even move down to grab him. He may not have the extreme high end potential that a player like Strome has but he is 100% a safer bet a very good NHL player with pretty close to no bust risk. He could make the team out of camp next year if he decides to stay in North America next year.

He is 100% the late riser that people are always looking to find in this draft, the kid is the real deal. The Sens will end up with a North American Swede within the first 6 picks.

I like Zibby but based on all accounts they like Strome more (but I also take all insider info and stuff like that with a grain of salt). I just think they'll like him because they've seen him more and his offensive potential is probably higher + he is basically Spezza Jr. But I like Zibby or Landeskog more probably.

"Zibby" is this years Skinner. Late riser who a lot of teams probably love right where The Sens are. Sens don't need another Jason Spezza because by the time a guy like Strome may mature into an all around player, Spezza will be on his last legs in The NHL. Zibenejad is a guy that can probably come in and be a top 6 guy/complete player, if not right away, within a year or two.

Like I said, with The Sens first pick I think they end up with a Swede. Landeskog is my guy but Zibenejad is a solid player.

Word is the Devils love him too, so they might snag him before us.

Which may work out perfectly. If The Devils like Zibenejad they may very well move down to get him if the draft goes as expected (RNH, Larsson, Huberdeau). That would leave Landeskog at number 4 and if The Devils have their eye on any other D man or Zibenjad, their player(s) will be there at number 6. It might cost a 3rd but The Sens will end up with one of 3 guys at the end of the day. Landeskog, Zibenejad, or Strome.

We're not getting Landeskog or Zibanejad. We're getting both Sarcasm

They are good friends and went shopping in TO, where Landeskog was approached by a modelling agency Laugh1

What about Strome though? We need some high level talent really badly, would the Sens pass on him.
