I've finished the first two seasons of Breaking Bad. Wow.

My wife caved and scheduled a cable installation at my house. She says she'll pay for it which means I'll pay for it. Dammit!

You are clearly NOT the master of your domain.

Clearly. She did get an upgrade on our internet though and I'm back in with the high steppin' PVR crowd.

Well, if you enjoy the Summer Olympics at all, you might be happy to have cable and a PVR.

I sure do. I'm already thinking about hockey season too. Not sure what our channel selection is but I'll be sure to add whatever I need.

wprager wrote:Finished S1 of "Walking Dead" on Netflix last night. I've got to stop picking shows that don't have the all the seasons available (first Being Human, now this -- is downloading torrents still not illegal in Canada?). Very good, even though quite gruesome in parts.

Well, we're 4 episodes into S2 now. It keeps surprising me how engaging it is. Very well done. If you knew me (and especially my wife) you wouldn't think that we would be enjoying a "zombie" show, but they've done such a great job of it. And the new season (and pretty much new cast) of Being Human is growing on us as well. And of course there is "Suits" but that's just once a week. Honestly, it would be so much easier if TV shows just ran 5-6 nights a week for a month and that would be the season. I guess that's what Neflix is all about, except the show's got to be a few years old before you see it.

We watched the first episode of Boardwalk Empire and thought it was kinda slow and kinda boring. Not sure if we'll go back to it.

I guess writing isn't important, since it is one of the most popular shows on TV. That, or it's just your opinion.

But then again, Justin Bieber is one of the most popular artists worldwide....

I watched the first 2 episodes. It was ok. Guy goes in a tank and doesn't even think to try using the gun attached to the tank to wipe out the zombies. AND, who ditches a car for a HORSE when going into a city full of zombies?!?!?!?

Well, horses are more mobile than a car, doesn't require gas, and using a tank's artillery will attract zombies even though you kill a lot.

Anyone see Kelsey Grammar's new show Boss? Looks interesting.

Have you watched it? If not, then I would recommend not letting Big Ev make your mind up for you.

The dialogue may not be at the same level as, say, Sorkin, but there's just something about that show that makes both my wife and me want to watch. I have to admit, I did not think it would as good as I think now, and that was even after reading a lot of glowing reviews.

The tank used to be operated by soldiers who knew how it worked. You don't think they would have fought until they were out of ammo and diesel? I actually prefer my food not chewed for me, now.

Oh I have been watching it since October 31, 2010 when it debuted on AMC.

Speaking of Sorkin, I wanted to get into The Newsroom but I've missed too many episodes.

Newsroom is Sorkin? Didn't know. Maybe I'll check it out. Although to be honest, I loved The American President and Sports Night, but I could never get into West Wing and although I really, really tried to like Studio 60 I just couldn't. It was just a little too clever for its own good -- I don't follow US politainment so too much of what they were saying was missed by me, and I just didn't care enough to try and figure it out. I like a well turned phrase more than the average TV viewer. I hate shows with laugh tracks and as a result I always watch with captions on (easy to miss what's being said). However I find some shows -- while very intelligent and witty -- to require some specific knowledge in order to fully understand the wit. Sorkin sometimes does that. 30 Rock is another (especially last season). Community -- although it doesn't go down the political trail, very often can be way over someone's head if they do not know the pop culture item they are satirizing or imitating (it's mostly films and tv shows so I am usually fine). I certainly don't remember that feeling watching Firefly, yet I always felt it was one of the best written shows I've ever watched.

I've only seen pieces of Newsroom and it looks good, I just missed the full episodes so I have no idea whats going on. Not sure if I need to in order to follow it though. One of the actresses on Newsroom is Jack's ex-fiance Phoebe from season 1 of 30 Rock.

This has the synopsis for every episode that's aired to date:

I'll have to look for it on Netflix next summer, I guess.
