"Youthful Oilers get schooled?"

The Ottawa Senators (11-12-1, 23pts) play host to the Edmonton Oilers (6-12-4, 16pts) tonight. This will be the Sens first look at Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle as NHL players. Ottawa is coming off an impressive 3-0 win over the hated rival Leafs on Saturday. It looked like the Sens hadn't left the rink from the Pittsburgh game and just picked up where they left off. The Oilers, however, saw their come back bid fall short vs. the Sharks. Down 4-1 they clawed back to make it interesting only to lose 4-3. The Oilers are on a steep learning curve with a fair bit of youth and there early season MVP on the mend in Khabibulin.

That comeback attempt should serve as a stern warning to Ottawa. These guys don't know when to give up and the Sens should not have mercy and let up for one minute. If Ottawa plays like they have in the last couple of games then this has the makings of being a free Pizza night but, if they let up and allow the Oilers back in it then it could just as easily be another loss. At this stage of the season, a game under 500, at home vs. a bottom dweller like Edmonton, this should be an easy win and nothing else should be acceptable.

I see you are trying out my "format" from the last one? But that twitter link has to be updated.

Twitter link updated. For the record, this is what you do:

1. Sign into twitter as GMHockey
2. Copy the GDT link (without the # part), then go to bit.ly and shorten the link; click "Copy"
3. Tweet the game, using # in front of team/city names, then include "Join the discussion: " followed by the copied bit.ly short link
4. When the post appears, click on the "Now" just below it (or if you wait a little longer it'll say something like "5 minutes ago". This takes you to the specific tweet. Copy that URL and paste it into the link in the GDT post.

Easy as 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974445923078164062862089986280348253421170679821480865132823064709384460955058223172535940812848111745028410270193852110559644622948954930381964428810975665933446128475648233786783652712019091456485669234603486104543266482133936072602491417372458700660631558817488152092096282925409171536436789259060011330530548820466521384146951941511609433057270365759591530921861173819326117931051185480744623799627495673518857522489122793818301194912

Darn, maybe it doesn't repeat after all.

I expect this game to be over in the first 10 minutes. Easy win walking away.

Ya? I think this will be a win but it won't come within the first 10 minutes. SJ almost came back against San Jose the other night. They shouldn't be taken lightly especially given the foot speed of our defencemen vs their forwards.

you know what they say....when you look past your opponent, you usually lose. I won't underestimate the Oilers. These are two horrible defensive cores facing off, but you can give a slight edge to ottawa. Speed kills though and Edmonton's got plenty of it. They beat Colorado on Friday and competed hard against san jose. Why would anyone think this game can be over in the first 10 mins? yeesh, we're not the detroit red wings either to make those type of statements Facepalm

And that's not an easy thing to do either. Drums

Good thing I'm a fan and not the guys in the dressing room. I can look past teams all I want and it will have zero effect on the outcome. Based on how Ottawa has played the last couple games I think it will be a cake walk. I'm pretty sure they almost came back vs. SJ because the Sharks took their foot off the gas and as an elite team probably felt they could cruise their way to victory. It probably happens quite often with teams of that caliber.

Have you seen Ottawa play in the third period with a lead? Talk about taking the foot off the gas.

Looks like Gerber to start... Hemsky unlikely to play...

And Cap'n - the Sens can't afford to be taking anyone lightly. 11-13 and out of a playoff spot... we got work to do.

Agreed but I can take them lightly all I want. HappyDance1
