Da Costa's size and strength will dog him. Might be an uphill battle to make the NHL consistently.

He is 5'11" and 180 lbs. If those are not fabricated numbers, his problem is not so much size as strength. Alfie is 5'11" as are plenty of forwards in the NHL (and quite a few defensemen, too).

Da Costa will get there. He might be the type of guy that doesn't make it until he is 24, 25, but he will get there. A ton of talent but very, very raw which is fine.

He has the making of a 2nd line center at the NHL level... at worst 3rd line but he needs to learn how to play the game and obviously get stronger. That won't happen over night.

I've always been a fan. Not gonna pretend I'm not.

And they've done this with Lehner and Zibanejad on the mend the last couple of games. And it's not like their highly touted forwards are scoring a ton. Silfverberg is tied for the team lead in point with Benoit. Not a single B-Sens player is in the top-anything in league scoring (you have to go past the top-100 before you see Silfverberg and Benoit).

According to a number of accounts Zibanejad has "looked awesome" in each game he's played. Beer

Looking awesome does not win a lot of games, unless he blocks a ton of shots and they win 1-0. In the shootout. With him getting the game winner without actually registering a point.

I'm not crapping on our prospects, just saying that the wins have come on the back of Lehner (and, lately, Bishop -- his SV% is a very respectable .924 or so, considering his first 3 starts that's awesome) and timely scoring from across the lineup.

Leading the league in shorthanded goals also speaks to the team's character (although some of that success naturally has to do with the amount of time they get to practice playing short-handed Facepalm ).

From what I've read in this thread, Zibanejad has the playmaking ability of Wayne Gretzky and the scoring touch of Michel "Mike" Bossy. I see no reason to disagree.

Actually they've scored a Dung of goals the past few 4-5 games.
I've seen most of their games, and the first 10 ish games of the season they've looked pretty bad despite having a decent record. Lehner was winning them games back them. Defense was awful after the Cowen injury.
They look awesome now, and the best players on the ice to me most of the time not named Benoit or Lehner were Hoffman, Silfverberg, Stone and Prince. 3 rookies.
Unlike most of the teams in the AHL we have a lot of skilled young forwards who are still adjusting to the pro game, the grind of the buses, new line mates. Don't expect them to lead the league in points when they can't all get top line minutes and PP time. Even the coach doesn't have a definitive idea yet who to put on what line or top PP unit.
I don't think anyone has said Zibanejad has looked awesome. He has looked good on many occasions but nobody is awesome yet. Well except Lehner. Zibanejad is clearly still learning a lot of things. 1 or 2 times a game though he is making some great offensive plays that showcase his hands and skills.

Really loving Schneider and Cannone. Very hard working, skilled players who use size (Cannone plays up).

Oh, no, not another Filatov-gate.
