I think it would still take more than that, like a proven NHL forward (so not Regin).

Also, I don't think gutting our depth and youth makes us an instant contender. Even if it is Bobby Ryan coming the other way. Plus, he's got very little playoff experience. So, he can't be the one to put us over the top.

so who is it? my guess is vokoun. or it could very well be penner or cogliano? or maybe this weber trade is finally coming to fruition? it really could be anyone at this point. is it possible that ek-fraud is reporting this too?

bobby ryan to ottawa would knock my socks off. i'd rather keep regin to be honest... kuba-foligno and a 1st?

personaly i would bet there is no goalies involved. ottawa has gone out of it's way to make sure leclaire has a good season next year. having gone and hired his past trainer and all. so look elsewhere then the goalie position.

80% is an arbitrary number though. He made it up for sure, who says it's 80% done. It's not like its a software program loading bar. I just want to know what the rumour is. We know that Murray got close to pulling the trigger on Savard. We know the Sens have had a hard on for Jeff Carter for at least 5 years now.

People say this EVERY year. Once we get close to the draft, it will look a lot better because people will be more aware of the prospects in the draft. People said that last year, but it was still at least a solid first round.

Dating back to HB I was saying that 2008 was a much better draft than 2007 and a great draft over-all, then later that 2009 had good high-end talent but wasn't as deep, then that 2010 was shallower still, and now that 2011 isn't particularly impressive outside of the top guys.

2011 could still turn out to be the best draft of all-time but prospect nerds enthusiasts generally put more effort into developing an impression of a draft than just looking at their calendars to find out how far away it is from happening.

Apparently -- if I'm remembering correctly -- way back when he was thought highly of, Redden was on the table for Carter, but the deal got nixed when Redden invoked his no-trade clause.

This was before, I believe, Redden did the same thing to the deal that would have seen Marleau sent to OTT.

1/ Regin over BObby RYan? Cmon now
2/ If Ryan can't get a deal worked, Anaheim is gonna have to take less
3/ He has little playoffs experience, maybe, but the one he had he was amazing. THat line with PErry and GEtzlaf was the best line in the league during that playoffs.

I still feel as is there's zero chance, but Bobby Ryan for Cowen + Foligno is one that's popped up (which isn't enough from Ottawa IMO), Savard for the usual suspects has popped up and Vokoun has popped up.

HOWEVER, these are almost entirely from third part sites that don't know what they're talking about - or from fans who are speculating and passing it off as official rumours.

I'll hand it to BDP, the guy knows how to catch people's interest.

You know what, I do like Leclaire and Elliott, but really, goaltending has always been Ottawa's achilles heel, and Murray's started to address team needs this off-season, first getting that elite puck-moving, offensive defenceman we've needed, so the next logical addition, if there's one to be made, is for an elite goaltender, and Vokoun is that guy I think.

Of course it would mean Leclaire would be moved, plus a 1st rnd pick and maybe one other piece, which depending on who/what that is, would be worth it.

Both players have only one year left anyways, and Pascal is cheaper, and Vokoun will certainly not re-sign in Florida, and Leclaire might have a hard time finding a job next year if he doesn't play fantastic.

The issues I have with that are:

1.Would Vokoun agree to a 4.5 X 4 with us? Because goalie prices are on the decline, but I'd still like to have him under contract renewal

2.What's the other piece? Is it Leclaire, our 1st and something like Foligno or Wiercioch? That price is getting slightly high.

3.Is Elliott not the guy to hold the fort until Lehner is ready?

4.When Lehner is ready in 2 1/2 seasons or whatever, does he come in as Vokoun's backup

5.If he comes in as Vokoun's backup, we trade Elliott I presume?
