My beef is with the fact that bdp is saying that his source will find out through HB (and yost) about him and what I'm saying is that the same info gets posted here which leads another user to say pickup the info from here. again, if the real issue was about his source not leaking anymore info to him because of yost's antics, but has anything been done about the post itself? no, its more of a personal combat between the two. I don't buy the bogus about this being yost's fault, which is the argument he's making. I buy the fact that information about the internet's source shouldn't be presented on such a personal level, but he's leaving himself wide open to those antics by not setting some precedent or rule. Its a public forum!

and about the sens people scouring here, I think I heard this from prags or cap'n, so no I really have no way to prove this.

The point is, 1000s of more people will read HB than here or any other hockey rumour site. BDP's source is more likely to hear about BDP positing what he does now precisely because it's on HB.

Not all hockey forums are created equal. The more followers, the more likely it is that BDP's source will hear about this. It's pretty simple, really.

In my opinion, you are scewing the facts and numbers.

I don't see the difference. And sure he's the one telling us about it on the net, I think he should have handled it better by being serious and just pming for it to be taken down. Could have just announced that none of his stuff should be seen on another webpage or he will stop. By him acting like a 2 year old, he's just prolonging the issue of having Yost's story up, isn't he?

On the suggestion that the Sens org reads this site regularly: please. We have, what, 300 members? Places like Dobber have 20,000+, and I'd guess that HB has even more than that. This site is way better that HB, in my humble opinion, but let's not pretend here that it has anywhere close to the same kind of following.

As for the difference you don't see: do you see anyone on this site posting 'insider information'? The closest thing we had to that were Dawg, Dawg's wife, and N4L. There's a huge difference between talking about the Sens, and leaking out sensitive Sens org information.

You keep talking about how big Hockeybuzz is compared to GMHockey and the huge difference between the two sites.

Let's be honest, your numbers are misplaced. The actual comparison is Travis Yost's column versus GMHockey. My guess is they are pretty equal with GMHockey being the slight winner in terms of hits and a huge win in terms of quality that read.

The point is to compare how many people can read Yost's posts on HB, not how many Sens fans are on HB.
He may be a Sens blogger, but there are a lot of fans of other teams who read his columns. Way more than the 30-ish that comment here often.

[1] - The world can read Yost's posts just like GMHockey.

[2] - That is what I said. If you compare Yosts' hits to GMHockey hits, I think you would see it's pretty close. In my opinion of course.

There is no way to find Yosts' hit count though unless someone on here knows Hockeybuzz admins or Yost himself may know as well.

I did a little digging.

In the comments section of Travis Yost's column in question, a total of 5 different posters even made mention of his reference to BDP's original info. Those 5 posters combined for a grand total of 5 posts in regards to BDP and his original rumor.

Meanwhile over here at GMHockey, we have had 15 different posters make mention of BDP or his info specifically in their posts for a total of 94 posts.

I know this is not an entirely accurate portrayal and GMHockey has also been talking about BDP's sourced info for a longer period of time; but I would say BDP should be more pissed at GMHockey than Travis Yost for outing him to the "public".

I don't think you really understand the issue here.

BDP is pissed because he said his source is getting suspicious about info getting leaked.
His source doesn't read HF, GMH... but he reads HB because HB is a more popular website among non hardcore hockey fans, the NHL teams, the media etc.
Something posted on HB has more chance of being leaked to the media, Sens organization etc than here at GMH for instance.
If his source finds out that he has been leaking, he won't tell him anything anymore. And that's what he wants to avoid.

Heh. DW was a she.

DW was just Dawg. He got a pretty nice job in some capacity with an NHL team and he didn't want his own handle to be associated back to him. So he created an account for his wife that he posted through. Yes, sometimes he got his wife to post stuff for him, but it was predominantly him that did the posting.

I don't think it's a short leap from BDP to BackDropPass. How many actually used his handle and not the acronym?

What about Brad Richards? Could get him for Kovalev, Kelly, and a pick. Would need to clear some cap room though but he'd be a 'game-changer' no?

Yeah, that would be a dream pickup for sure. It's probably all Dung so my hopes aren't getting up. I'll just get ready for a season of Fish!!! rumours "du jour" - Page 17 226479

Would take waaay more than that to get him, but I agree that he's someone the sens should go for. Maybe not now, but at some point in the season (especially if we're in the thick of contention). But we're looking at giving up at least one of weircioch, cowen, or rundblad along with a 1st rounder as a starting point. Round that out with Kelly and/or Kuba and it might be enough to get him.
