Kelly I could see being a great fit in Florida. Younger guy with leadership qualities. I'd give up him and Leclaire, nothing else. No picks, no prospects, well maybe not nothing else. I'd throw in Shannon too if they wanted him.
You're talking about a goalie who would turn this team into an Eastern conference favorite. There's a price to pay for that.
Here's some numbers to consider:
Vokoun's .925 save percentage last year was the third best in the NHL. His 2.55 GAA in the top 20 eventhough he was played for the third-last place team in the league last year.
Here's some more numbers: Brian Elliott faced 1424 shots last year. He allowed 130 goals for a .909 save percentage. With Vokoun's save percentage, that would have translated to 107 goals against, assuming the same number of shots against. A difference of 23 goals. Ottawa lost 10 games last year by 2 goals or less. That difference of 23 goals translates into 3 to 8 wins. Essentially the difference between winning the division and home ice and finishing second in the division with no home ice.
