Devo wrote:Hmm...ok..The only reason I ask is that I've heard the Murrays a couple of times and not once have they talked about Cowen being in the NHL next year, but both have talked about Wiercioch.

While I'll say Cowen has looked good at the prospects camp, Wiercicoh doesn't look out of place. I was just wondering where this came from because to my knowledge the team hasn't changed their stance.

Well unless they trade 1/2 their D core then only one rookie is going to make it out of camp. Cowen defently has the advantage playing in the league he has vs Wiercoich leaving his league early to sign a pro contract.

Who's Notch? I know a great forum member over at Dobber named Notch.

Steve "Notch" Johnson, Dobber contributor. He was a member here a while back and had a real hard time over here, for all kinds of reasons. Every time someone acts really unreasonable, N4L assumes its Notch operating under a new name. Notch did create a number of accounts, to be fair, so its not unreasonable of him to think so.

Just don't assume that 1) running an NHL team is anything like running a real hockey team, that 2) "Heatley will never be traded" (LOL), and that 3) having an injury history instantly and unalterably condemns you to further injuries (especially as concerns Leclaire), and you'll be fine. Haha it's the same guy? He's pretty cool over at Dobber...I remember he gave some great analysis of last year's rookie tournament.

But creating multiple aliases is just weak.

He did. And it was some good coverage of the rookie Sens that he gave last year. Notch is a valued Dobber member (he does Dobber's weekly Saturday night spreads, and he has a pretty remarkable record), a mod for their website, and someone who spends a lot of time following hockey.

That said, he was often abrasive and disrespectful when he was here. And then he ran into Neely, who is equally abrasive and actually plays hockey and doesn't give a Dung about fantasy hockey, which is where Notch (given his Dobber background) was coming from too often. And that's when he got into trouble.

The final straw came when Notch got banned and started creating multiple accounts and generally being a nuisance. That created problems for the mods. Then he was unalterably done here. He probably didn't want to show his face here again after Heatley got traded anyway, which he was adamant would not happen. At least I think it was Notch who was so insistent about the Heatley situation... we've had 3 or 4 toolicious people on this site who had very, very short shelf lives, and I may well be getting them mixed up.

LOL I love fantasy hockey too, but I can separate fantasy hockey from real, NHL hockey Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 41 270956

I remember another thing now...we were asked to give our unbiased opinion on who would each first round playoff series...I picked the Penguins in 6, but Notch said that there is no way the Sens lose and he was basically implying that I wasn't a real Sens fan for picking the Pens to win the series.

Also, why would he say Heatley would NEVER get traded? If I have learned anything from the interwebz, it is to never say anything won't happen. Because more often than not, it DOES happen and you look like a fool.

Anyways, I don't think Wang Roache is Notch lol.

not to get too much in this feud, but didn't CockRoche say he was drafted in the NHL? That would lead me to believe he's a player too and shouldn't have his opinion just deemed as facts 'pulled outta the Donkey'.

Of course, its just an internet forum. Who knows what to believe? Just hoping for a little civility here. Disagreements are fine, but the personal arguments are really just a nuisance around here.

so he said a while back I believe....didn't disclose identity but named his position and team, and year he was drafted. Someone else can vouch for this better than me, but again I'd rather talk hockey than personal attributes of a user.

I'd say calling it reasonable (sorry -- "not unreasonable) is a bit of a stretch. It is possible, but not probable or likely, so assuming it is not exactly reasonable. Reason has little to do with it.

On the other hand, when we say someone is "SF56ing" on someone, we're not wondering if the poster is, in fact, SF56. So, perhaps, that's just Neely calling names.

CockRoche is indeed a former NHL Draftee.

He toiled in the minors for about 4 years after an average Carrer leading up to the draft. I'm sure he would admit that he didn't play as well as he probably could have leading up to him being drafted, and surely after he was the product of bad timing and poor performance/attitude.

He's a good guy with strong opinions.

N4L, you and I see eye to eye often enough for me to say give him some slack. He's really not some joe trying to pull the wool over everyones eyes.

He's seen action at every level except the NHL so while his opinions don't exactly match yours, he does have that intangible, which is he's been around.

Why,

What does it matter if he produces a picture of himself standing on stage? He was and it wasn't a 6th or 7th round pick at that. Cut him some slack.

I don't think he's being serious, but the fact that someone around here is an NHL draftee is pretty cool, and something many cannot claim, so I'm sure many of us would respect that of someone. If he wants to remain anonymous than that is his right, but I think it is cool that he made it that far.

I didn't mean for my last post to sound so strong. I really meant, what does it matter if he gives proof or not. Several people on this site have a reputation through people vouching for them.

While I personally haven't talked to him to verify it's him, everything from the name he uses, so several other things makes me confident in saying that I'm 99% sure it's the person I believe it is, and he was indeed drafted by St. Louis.

In the end he's no different than the rest of us. Being Canadians, and even more so hockey fans, we all have a certain knowledge of this game and strong opinions on what we thing works.

For every person who likes the offensive creativity of a Kovalev, there are an equal number that absolutley hate him for just those reasons.

Someone on this board said it once, and i'm a true believer of it. Unless someone on this board is an NHL coach or GM (really a memeber of an NHL management team) then we all have an opinions that mean about the same.

Most of my opinions are from a fans perspective. I have only been playing for 3 seasons (2 years) now so my knowledge on the on-ice game is not as good as others.

It should still be interesting to see what happens next year when both Runbland and Wiecioch are presumably ready for the big time. But having 2 rookies coming in is better than having one guy come in for sure.

How did we get to the assumption that Cowen will be on the team and not Wiercioch?

I distinctly remember hearing Tim Murray on in the afternoon before the draft, talking about how they fully expect Wiercioch to push for a spot, but that Cowen is likely a year away. He mentioned that of all the defense men prospects that Wiercioch was the most ready for the NHL

Just curious whether the Teams stance has changed, or if it's just opinion on this board.

Everything that's been said Weircoich is no where near Cowen's level right now and Cowen has the advantage of playing in The CHL vs The NCAA, it's a huge jump from College.

But Butler can do it no problem and lead the Sens first line to the promise land. Haha.

Gotta love talking out 2 sides of your mouth, but I digress. No need to carry this convo on.

I think it would be a big difference for a defenseman over a forward, no?
