Dude, I wasn't trying to correct anything, but if you put the space between it the cuss word substitution on this site changes Co(k to Wang, and it becomes more difficult to understand the discussion.

We get it. You have a Piled High and Deep in English Lit. Good for you. As for me, I left the Soviet Union about a month after starting grade 5, then the next year I went to grade 6 at a The Overseas School of Rome (a US school in Rome). Needless to say, I had a few problems -- but who wouldn't, when they learn English by reading -- and writing about -- Oliver Twist.

I think, given my beginnings, that I have done pretty well. True, I use a little slang and "conversational English" when I post here, and sometimes I make typos, but who doesn't (and don't say "I don't"). Suffice it to say that I don't write like that professionally; check out my thesis, if you want -- it's microfiched somewhere at the Library and Archives Canada (I doubt they have it in electronic form, though). The subject area will not make it very easy to understand, though.

There was another poster on here who claimed to have played a few games for Detroit and the Rangers. Except he got exposed as a fraud when the NHLPA said they had no record of such a player.

In CockRoche's cases, sure, there is a record of a Mr. Roche being drafted by St. Louis in '95, and his home town is the same as CockRoche. I have no reason to doubt the guy being legit but, of course, I had no reason to doubt the other guy either. So, while I am 99% certain CockRoche is who he says he is, please don't expect Neely to come out and say "I was wrong".

Nope I'm not expecting that at all. Was just hoping for him to see that he shouldn't dismiss people so quickly. Anyways, let's put it to bed. Whatever.

Yeah, because this is the first time you've commented on anyone's writing in an effort to look witty. Just accept the forum and its contributors for what they are. No one's trying to win a Booker here or anything.

Here's my promise: I'll leave your writing alone if you give the same courtesy to everyone else. By the same token, every time you pull this crap on someone, I'll come down on you. I've never, ever played writing nazi around here, but your constant grammatical and semantic nitpicking is really annoying. Just leave it alone. I lose 2 minutes a day skipping through posts that nitpick other people's writing. You've got intelligent enough things to say about hockey on most days, so just stick to them.

He wouldn't have said anything if the word Wang wasn't filtered...if someone says Wang Roche it could look like you're ripping on CockRoche by calling him a Wang. Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 43 270956

Anyways...there would be no reason for somebody to randomly say he is former goalie that was drafted in the third round by the Blues in 1997 or whatever it is. If you really want to fake that you are a former player, wouldn't you at least come up with something better than that? I have faith in the Wang!

You're right, I have, on occasion, commented on grammar/spelling, but I would hardly think it is constant; certainly it was not the case this particular time, so don't *you* feel a little foolish (probably not). If a particular word is consistently misspelled it irks me -- it really does. How many times did I see talent spelled with two ells before *someone else* commented on it? Believe it or not, Rooney, I have made an effort to "leave it alone" pretty much, to the point where I've gone to the "banned word" list and added some often-misspelled words there. You were way off mark with your comment but, of course, you can't see that.

Many of times he's calling ppl out because they can't defend facts as well as he can, or so he thinks, and proclaiming someone to be pulling 'facts outta the a$$' and not knowing a damn thing about the game because he's got friends in the league...well I really want a response from him for accusing someone who's been in the business I think much more than he has.

And don't get me wrong, I like Neely. Great poster, and he does have great knowledge and insight on the game. But if you're going to call out someone and question their knowledge, don't just disappear when certain other facts are being presented. Same goes for Wang Roche, I'd like to hear his thoughts on this too. Doing it respectfully will be appreciated (i.e. no name-calling or insults).

Ill responde because I dont back down from much. Anyone can make up a name and a hometown and say "ya, that's me". I could literally pretend to be 10 or 11 different people and I would say about 1/2 of you would bite. Hell, a 13 year old kid tricked everyone here when a couple of us called BS right away. Is this to say no one who has played jr or been drafted doesnt come here and blog? No it isnt... this guy? I have my doubts in a big bad way.

Also, if you noticed, Notch/FireOnIce/Cloverleaf/This guy always says when I get a little rude "thanks for the warm welcome" without fail. It's the dead giveaway. I didnt want to really say anything because it's an easy way to sniff it out, but there it is. Go back in the archieves and you will see the same thing.

As for disapearing, I dont go anywhere bud, but I also dont sit beside a computer when it's 30 degree's outside and feel like playing a round of golf.

So all in all, no, I dont think this guy is who he claims he is and based on Notch's past, he would pretty much do anything to get on this site and talk, he has been about 10 different people to just try and get back in, hell, he even stated that he would do all this when he first got banned.

You know what's funny about this... the guy is claiming to be was actually an instructor at my hockey camp when I was 13 or 14. I would love to know what hockey camp that was Roche, please inform me. If you can actually answer that, I'll buy it and I will actually appologize.

Again, if you are who you say you are, this should be easy.

Neely, why-oh-why do you think Notch has any interest to return here? He had a little fun trying to prove that he could keep getting an account. I must admit, that was a little childish of him, but childish behaviour is not limited to this one person. After that little bit of fun he went back to Dobber's site where he is fairly busy. He was *not* Cloverleaf as the two accounts had different IPSs. Yes, technically, you could be with Bell *and* Rogers but, seriously, enough of the tin-foil-hat stuff.

Make more of an effort, that's all I'm saying, or I will tap dance all over your prose.

As for being "way off the mark," this has been a systematic issue with you that is plain for everyone to see. You have far too many posts that start of with a word or phrase, quoted from someone else's post, in italics, with which you then proceed to make some grammatical or sematic quibble, often in condescending fashion. It comes up every week, and I've had enough. The last straw for me actually came earlier in the day and in this thread (I believe), when you corrected my "not unreasonable" with "reasonable," as if you wanted to show your erudition by invoking Orwell's "Politics and the English Language."

Kindly check your editor/professor hat at the door, or expect to receive the same treatment you dish out. That is all. Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 43 822944

I appreciate this. Thanks. At least now I got some idea why u reacted the way u did. I think its fair to assume he's not the player, just as much as it is to assume he is.

Huh. I'm not saying anything one way or the other as to anyone's identity, but... good eye. People can and do betray themselves with formulaic expressions that they use out of habit.

OMG! I was *not* correcting you! There was *nothing* wrong with your grammar (at least not as far as I could see). It was simply a reference back to your "loser" versus "not a winner" posts in the Spezza thread. I thought it was quite a clever post, actually, but perhaps too clever? Too bad -- if it was lost on you I guess it was lost on everyone.

The "thanks for the warm welcome" so-called giveaway was used once, two days ago. The feud started with Roche's third post here, when he said he disagreed with Neely. How dare he, a rookie with 2 posts under his belt! It was the same thing with Clover and a couple of others. The constant here is Neely, not some random members.

LOL. That's funny, in a way. Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 43 679331 It doesn't change the fact that you play grammarian it bit too often, but it is nicely ironic that it took a misread on my part to get me to comment on the issue.
