Most of my opinions are from a fans perspective. I have only been playing for 3 seasons (2 years) now so my knowledge on the on-ice game is not as good as others.

It should still be interesting to see what happens next year when both Runbland and Wiecioch are presumably ready for the big time. But having 2 rookies coming in is better than having one guy come in for sure.
How did we get to the assumption that Cowen will be on the team and not Wiercioch?
I distinctly remember hearing Tim Murray on in the afternoon before the draft, talking about how they fully expect Wiercioch to push for a spot, but that Cowen is likely a year away. He mentioned that of all the defense men prospects that Wiercioch was the most ready for the NHL
Just curious whether the Teams stance has changed, or if it's just opinion on this board.
Everything that's been said Weircoich is no where near Cowen's level right now and Cowen has the advantage of playing in The CHL vs The NCAA, it's a huge jump from College.
But Butler can do it no problem and lead the Sens first line to the promise land. Haha.
Gotta love talking out 2 sides of your mouth, but I digress. No need to carry this convo on.

My point is, was and always will be that just because you played in the NHL, or know people who do, or hell even if you are Gretzky, you're opinion means as much as the next guy.
The only thing you can comment on is what things may have been like when you played, not what they were like before, nor what they are like now if you're done.
I hazard a guess that a decent percentage of people on this board have played hockey or another team sport at a fairly intense level. Unless you are the a member of the management staff of a team in the NHL right now your opinions hold no more water than Notch, N4L CockRoche, wprager, or myself.
Hate to burst your bubble, but N4L isn't the only person who knows people in the NHL. In this country there are less than 3 degrees of seperation between any of us and a guy playing.
Does anyone care that someone else on this board has played a team sport at an extreemly high level for an extended period of time? No, I bet not one of you. Why? Because it's never been mentioned before and likely won't be again. He's wanted to keep it to himself because he's said it to me many a time, that it's really nothing more than a part of his past, and it's no more relevant to these conversations that a guy who's a fantasy geek.
Unless you're going to break rumors or news using your contacts, opinions on who is going to play where, who will make the team, who is a better player to sign to a contract, are just that opinions and regardless of whether you're Gretzky or Joe Schmoe they hold the same weight.
In my eyes anyway. All that this mud slinging and name calling does is reduce the weight of your words in my mind. People just end up sounding like 2 school boys bragging about whose brother or father is bigger or tougher.

There was another poster on here who claimed to have played a few games for Detroit and the Rangers. [1] Except he got exposed as a fraud when the NHLPA said [2] they had no record of such a player.
In CockRoche's [3] cases, sure, there is a record of a Mr. Roche being drafted by St. Louis in '95, and his home town is the same as [4] CockRoche. I have no reason to doubt the guy being [5 & 6] legit but, of course, I had no reason to doubt the other guy either. So, while I am 99% certain CockRoche is who he says he is, please don't expect Neely to come out and say "I was wrong".
