Why, what do you think we'd get from Minny?

Burns and Havlat you say? Ahhhhh!

If we get Koivu back with a 1st rounder, I will run around the city for a good 2 days straight.

Be careful what you wish for in Brassard. That shoulder is wonky already. Not that Spezza's back is any better.

I dont think there is anyway that Murray doesnt get a potential number 1 center back, just cant see it. I think the deal is done honestly.

They would never let Koivu go. Bouchard + Burns?

Yeah, count me in as worried as well. And he had a crappy season because of it last year.

Ya, but you need a guy who potentially can be number 1. I dont disagree but I get the move in a big way.

If this is a bad deal I think I might have to hop on the fire Murray bandwagon. I hate to do it, but I can't watch this team continue to deal away top end players for scraps.

Make him a scout and get a guy like Fenton in here. Whatever though, it's too early to call for his head and I'm looking at this emotionally not objectively.

Look at my username. Laugh1 Diddle, I have to look at this objectively. It has to be the right trade, but if Murray's doing it, there's a reason.

I would probably trade Spezza straight-up for Koivu. It'd never happen, though. Koivu is their full-time captain and MVP, and he's signed to a great deal. I suspect we're all drastically over-estimating the return we're going to get, and then in order to justify it we'll have to retrospectively disparage Spezza's contribution to the team.

If it's Penner, Cogliano and the 31st I'm going to have a hard time cheering for the Sens for a few years. I might have to switch my allegiance to the Wings/Hawks full-time while silently rooting for the Big 3D, Regin and Lehner. Crying

Murray has to do 2 things in this trade IMO. One, get a center back that has a real shot and real potential of becoming a number 1 center. That's the first and most important part of any deal. Two, a 1st rounder, he needs to have the ability to either pick the player he truly wants in this draft based on this trade. Everything else is just gravey if he can make the trade better.

If at the end of the day it's Brassard and the 4th or Weiss and the 3rd, I say that's a good deal and The Sens are basically the same team but younger (marginally) and we add a stud prospects. That's a win for Ottawa if Spezza is out the door IMO.

I feel that snuffaluffagus can replace Spezza quite nicely if you give him the chance Dumb Hoax: Former Sens insider says Spezza is gone! - Page 4 226479

The Sens are a major part of my life, but if they made a Penner, Cogliano, 31st overall deal for Spezza, I'd be so pissed it wouldn't even be funny.

I dont think there is anyway that's the deal either. I think Murray's tenure here will be based on the next 3-4 weeks work. I cant see Murray letting Spezza go for anything less then a potential number 1 center. Be it Gagner, Brassard, Weiss, Berglund, whoever else. That's the basis for any trade IMO.

Edmonton, well, I dont think they are in it to be honest and will stick to the long term plan of rebuilding.

I would even question Murray if that was what we actually got back, I just cant see that being the case. If it was Gagner, I would be very happy with that.
