All day everyday. Deal Kuba for some decent pieces to a team like Jersey (maybe a 2nd+prospect) and you almost break even as far as sallary is concerned.

It would have to be somehting like Kuba, Cheechoo, and Lee for Campbell and a 1st or 2nd. Cheechoo's salary will not count against Ottawa's cap next year one way or another so I dont think it's all that big of a deal if he is included at all.
Taking that Campbell salary and contract is def a favour to Chicago, they would need to pay more with Campbell. That said, Campbell is probably the exact player Murray wants, not Michalek, A Train, Zanon, or whatever defensive D man people can think of. If that was truly what Murray wanted, he would have resigned A Train.

I'm sure Melnyk would prefer not to pay Cheechoo 3.5M AND bring another 7M+ committment. Cap hit is one thing, but we are talking about real dollars and Cheechoo's salary is the equivalent of a 6 game playoff series.
RobbyJ wrote:Chicago NEEDS to move salary. If they want to move Campbell they are taking a bad contract back from someone, might as well be for 1 year. IF Campbell becomes a Sen, I would almost guarantee Cheechoo is a Blackhawk (or on their farm team).
Don't believe that for a minute. Chicago has screwed itself and will be losing players. Nobody will take Huet, there very well could be another suitor for Campbell, but I don't really see another fit in the league. They could move some 3M contracts but at best that's a 2M saving per roster spot. Put yourself inSeawaySensFan wrote:RobbyJ wrote:Chicago NEEDS to move salary. If Ottawa WANTS Campbell they will have to make a deal that works for Chicago. And what would work best for them would be a few decent players on cheap deals.

But you won't have Kelly or Kovalev, Fisher can be traded if he's even still around. The cap will probably go up... 6M+ ? All I can say to that is: Source?

he's 19 years old and will likely get similar points to Kuba/Campbell next year...
is Campell really that much better than Kuba?

I'll go out on a limb and say yes.
Karlsson has 2 years remaining on his ELC and most likely 5 years before his jackpot contract (last year of RFA plus some UFA years). He won't be 6M on his next deal unless Doughty, Bogosian, etc.. hit the motherlode in their 2nd contracts.DirtyDave wrote:the only thing is.. what about Karlsson.. he's going to be as good if not better.. how do you not pay Karlsson 6M+ after his next contract?? and we'll still have Campbell on the team.
