I don't think so, but depending on what we give up I hope your right. Maybe when Kovalev comes off the books it makes more sense.

I think, if it's possible, that having a team with both Campbell and Kovalev in the playoffs could be deadly. This also assumes that our goaltending situation improves. I still haven't completely given up on Leclaire.

We are very tight to the cap next year, that's something that needs to be remembered. Getting rid of Foligno + Cheechoo + Kuba would open up space though.

why not something like:

Kuba + Cheechoo + Lee + Foligno for Campbell + Sharp

2) Sharp will only be moved if they can't find takers for Versteeg and Byfuglien

If we take Campbell's inflated contract, I want Sharp. And I think that's quite doable personally.

Doesnt sound like enough from our end. I must say, N4L has piqued my interest in Campbell. If we were able to jettison the Kuba and Cheechoo contracts it could be very doable.

It wasn't too long ago people had little to no interest in Campbell and his huge contract.

I suppose if you unload some contracts the other way and you save some money by going with Cowen and/or Wiercioch that is a possibility.

This is just me personally, but...

Chicago has an awesome core, they need to shed some contract, losing Campbell hurts them a lot, getting Kuba back at half price helps though. Sharp is the big ticket here, if they can trade Byfuglien or Versteeg ahead of Sharp, they obviously would, but that's not going to entice teams to take that massive contract of Campbell's.

HOWEVER, have people thought about Byfuglien? This dude would terrorize the East the way Lucic does/did. Will he rack up the points? Probably not, but he's the kind of massive dude that can really help the PP, can play forward or D (he's actually a better D-man from what I've seen), and has an infectious attitude.

But, if it's Sharp, then it would be this kind of thing (this is again, just my opinion).

Why Chicago does it:
1. They replace Campbell with Kuba, a saving of 3.3 million dollars against the cap for only 2 more years instead of 5, with an expired NTC clause.

2. They receive Foligno back, a young power forward who can be very effective for no more than 1.5 million. The savings from a Sharp/Foligno swap is 2.5 million dollars - and while Sharp is much better, Foligno is no slouch.

3.They receive Campoli who can be resigned for 1.5 million tops, this gives them both Kuba and Campoli to fill out their D core is Johnsson walks.

4.O'Brien will NEVER play in Ottawa, he's doomed, so putting him in the mix is a token of gratitude to Chicago for playing along. Sharp and Campbell make the Sens fairly 'complete', so this is a small token in lieu of a draft pick.

You could push for Lee instead of Campoli and probably make that work, but it's hard to say if Chicago would have any interest in Lee.

Why does Ottawa want Sharp if they resign Cullen? They are not going to take on 10 mil in salary. Campbell or nothing from Chigago because Campbell is pretty much a must or a player of his ilk for Ottawa to compete for the conferance next year.

That's a big IF.

They will know before the draft.

No way I'd give up Campoli.. no yet..

I'm thinking Campbell for Kuba, Lee and Shannon (or Obrien) is fair.

they may even know now... just dont' want to annouced as it may show them at a weakness for trades if teams think they are against the cap.
