guess it's looking less and less probable that mich 2 re-signs with the yotes

Oh well, man oh man, if we can get him, we're laughing. People here who don't know what he brings will be shocked. He blocks shots with close to the same verve as Volchenkov, but his passes are better, he's better at clearing the zone and he's got some untapped offence IMO.

I knew this day would come.

The more I read on Michalek the more I hear just how good he might be. It will be interesting to see if Murray goes out and get this guy because the more I hear and read, the more I'm sold.

Still like Campbell though just fitting him in with that contract could still be really tough.

real though... but is michalek that #1 PMD we've needed for a years now? if kuba is going the other way with lee... it's no too bad?

I have no clue, can Michalek be as versitile as Kuba? Does Murray want to bring in Cowen right away and perhaps play with with Michalek of they get him?

Seriously, there is going to be a lot of moves IMO from Murray from the time the palyoffs end until the begining of next season. I have no clue which way he goes and who he thinks is ready.

I dont know, perhaps Murray has high expectations going into the draft or deals in place as it is. I just have no clue what way this teams goes right now.

Does Spezza stay? Probably but not for sure. Does Murray inject a ton of youth? Im gonna say yes. Do they really go for it? I think they might in terms competing for The East title.

what do you mean in terms of going for it? as in being a contender right away and bringing in new FA's?

one thing i've been thinking about as far as spezza. if we are to trade him well theres another team in our division not entirely happy with their number 1 centerman. now i know that most GM don't trade within their division. but if we wanted to trade spezza we could probably get derek Roy, a prospect and/or pick.
i like Roy, he didn't have a blinding year or playoff but he's capable of getting the job done. plus he's cheap on the cap. i think Buff have got a few good prospects.

Roy is just the same thing as Spezza, just a lesser cap hit. Rather have the devil I know then the Devil I dont. I think they both play the exact same kind of game, play the same kind of game, and are underachievers... that being said, Spezza is defnetly the better player there.

Yeah, I think they go for it next year, I dont think they are as far off as people might believe, including myself about 2 weeks ago.

i always heard Roy was a leader in the dressing room. spezza might be the most tallented but what does that matter if it's never fully utilized. it's also why i'd want more then Roy in the deal.

i think we're still 2-3 years from the finals again FingersCrossed

Believe me, Roy isnt a leader, haha. Alfi is a leader, Phillips is a leader, Roy, no.

The East just isnt all that strong and with a good regular season Ottawa can get there for sure if the right moves are made and they build on what they learned this season.

how the hell are they gonna move him? bury him is the only way i can see. it will cost them close to 2 mill for 4 years to buy him out.

CRISTOBAL HUET BUYOUT FROM CAPGEEK.COM
2010-2011: $1,875,000
2011-2012: $1,875,000
2012-2013: $1,875,000
2013-2014: $1,875,000

POLL: Zbynek Michalek or Anton Volchenkov - Page 10 62136 Holy cow, that's amazing. If I were the GM you ask, or in real life? In real life, they might have to eat that 2 million per year and buy him out.

In my fantasy world, I'd ask politely if I could bury him in the minors and avoid the cap hit. Still, I would imagine it's buy out time.

Wait a minute, this is Chicago, and you're all forgetting the "Chicago way". And it doesn't have to be nasty, just something career-ending that forces him to retire (he was not 35 when he signed).

If you want to contend next year then you need that #1PMD and Michalek is not it. If you realize that one #1PMD will not be enough to take you over the hump, then you look down the road and Karlsson is that #1.

If I was Eugene, I'd lean on Murray to bring in Michalek because, let's face it, he would make this team better, and this year we were 2 ACLs away from getting to the second round.

I think suspect goaltending played a role as well.

Are you sure? You can't tell me that we got beat by Marc-Andre Fleury. Both Elliott and Leclaire performed very well, given that this was their first foray in to the no-paycheck season. If we were not missing Michalek, Kovalev and Kuba I am pretty confident we would have advanced (mostly because MAF was not having a good series.

So, while we may have gotten shaky goaltending in one (perhaps two?) games, I don't think thatis what cost us the series.

I never said it cost us the series just that it played a role. Sheesh.

That's a tough one Prags, Elliott wasn't very sharp. Leclaire was good, but Elliott wasn't really playing well enough to advance us - even with the Lord of the Overrated MAF in there. However, I agree with your assessment that this was their first foray into the post-season and that for sure they'll both be a lot stronger next year.

Not 100% sure about Ladd, but sign me up for this deal. Mind you, you've only sent ~5 million to Chicago and you're getting back ~9 plus Cullen's 3.3 million, so 12.3 million, so you've upped our cap numbers by 7 million.

Campbell (7.1)
Ladd (~2.5)
Cullen (~3.3)

= ~12.9 coming in

Kuba (3.7)
Foligno (1.0)
Lee (1.0)

=5.7 going out

= 7 million bucks added.
