Loaded question to ask SSF, but it's Kelly's contract out that would almost perfectly equal Richards coming in.

Only for this season though. Next year we'd be screwed cap wise.

I challenge that it could be made to work, it might not be the smartest way of going about things, but I would have to look at numbers.

Of course it could work, but it would mean trading away important members of our team. Something based around Kovalev + Fisher or Kovalev + Kelly or Kelly + Fisher would work cap wise. Still and idiotic trade to make for a glorified 2nd line center.

I would gladly take their glorified 2nd line centre over our current glorified second line centre. TRADE DEADLINE BONANZA! - Page 7 159628

Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

We need Kelly. He kills penalties. No one else can do that.

Well, I know who that comment is aimed towards <>. Actually, both you and ASQ have made a strong case in response to my "trade Foligno before Kelly" comment. I'm starting to reconsider my position on that one ...

I would however be reluctant to do a blockbuster trade involving many players to get Richards. I think that this team has swagger and that they can do some damage; I'd tread carefully in terms of player movements at this time.

Boy, I hope not. Richards would be their best forward in the last decade.

Markov's a pretty supreme talent man.

Saku Koivu says hi as well. He took alot of crud when he played for the Habs, but the guy has been a consistent threat while being an absolute warrior at the same time.

Again, I would have to look at the numbers. The D wouldn't be improved with such a move, nor would the goaltending. You'd have to ship Kuba out and replace him with Cowen, and you'd have to ship Leclaire out and replace him with say, Brodeur (Mike).

Does it make the team better? Probably not, but Richards is no glorified 2nd line center, he's a top line center who we can put in the 2nd slot and have one of the most powerful 1-2 punches in the league. Not that I'm arguing for it personally, it's too much, but it can be done and it is indeed a little interesting. Ahhhhh!

Good point, Markov is amazing, on par or better than Brad. I forgot him. I do not concede Koivu though, Richards is and always was a better player.

Yeah, this is a pack mentality, bringing in what will be a 6 million dollar a year contract in Richards and losing Kelly+ can hurt that. I agree with you here.

Which sucks because a guy like Richards is available once in a long while. Marleau as well. These are true hard working, 2-way players that, if put in the correct positions, can help teams to championships.

I doubt he is either, but can Dallas afford him next year? And if not, do they get a nice package now, or do they let him walk away?

The speculation is based on the fact that the Stars owner is hemoraging money and $7.3 million is too much to handle. Could be falso, but that is a lot of money.

Basically the exact same situation he was in when he got dealt from Tampa Bay.

Yeah, it would be purely monetary for sure.

I don't think they are in cap trouble at all. If you look at their salary management it looks a lot like OTtawa. one 7+ MIllion dollar centre, 3 4/5 million forwards, cheapest blue line in the league and their goaltending will probably be cheap as well.

No, their owner is going bankrupt. There's serious (real) money issues there.

He's a crazy SOB, I don't know if Cuban wants this kind of thing. But, yes, I did hear that.
