It's true actually. Probably because of the posters that come here that are all over these kinds of things I guess. We have some amazing readers though apparently, Sens brass, Sens players. Who knows who else...

If we could get either Alzner or Coburn for Volchenkov, I would be very tickled.

To be honest if Washington thought they can go the distance I think it would be Alzner and a 1st for Atrain. The 1st would be a low 1st if Washington went the distance so it would be worth it for them.

Problem is, A-Train is a UFA and that lowers the value quite a bit, and Alzner is a 5th overall pick so 2 1st rounders is way too much for A-Train.

I would totally add a 2nd rounder for Alzner. Can you imagine our top 4 with Alzner, COwen, Karlsson and Philips?

Your proposal suggests that Alzner has more value than a proven Atrain. As much as Alzner is a top 5 pick he hasn't been able to stay in the bigs. UFA's have gone for more and Atrains value isn't diminished at all because of his status. He is a key piece that alot of teams can use in the Playoffs. If we are giving up a 2nd as well I would want more.

THe reason why Alzner is not in the big club is because his cap hit was too much when they still had Nylander. He has already proven he can play effectively at the NHL level. If a UFA A-Train is worth Alzner +, then we should be exstatic because Murray will be able to get a bottom 5 team 1st rounder.

Bottom 5 team's don't need what Atrain brings. Bottom 5 teams need injections of young talent to compliment draft picks. Atrain is a mid-aged, defensive specialist who can help you win now in the playoffs. Not sure there will be a good fit should the team be forced to move him.

The Lie report? You need to be more specific. Is that HBuzz or Kevin Lie? Or that Inside man dude who said there was a deal awaiting league approval?

I just checked HB for the first time in about 6+ months, I see EK has put in a rumor about Halak and a pick going to Edmonton for Cogliano and some young d-man.

There are too many things wrong in EDM for them to consider spending anything on a goalie. Better for them to start rebuilding for next year, and soon. Besides, I'm sure Montreal is asking for, and will get, a king's ransom for Halak.

The aforementioned trade of Cogs to Ottawa for Lee and O'Brien.

EDM then deals Brule and a roster DMan to MON for Plekanec and Halak.

EDM upgrades in goal and down the middle, but gives up an offensive defenseman and prospect. They also receive 2 lower end prospects from OTT.

OTT unloads someone they hate with a borderline prospect for additional speed and PK abilities.

MON commits to Price, gets something for Halak, gets an offensive defenseman like Gilbert or Grebeshkov and Brule while losing their best centre who will probably leave next year for free anyway.

Edmonton is screwed, the Bulin Wall is done for the year possibly after surgery - and they have no one else at all.

This is decision time. Do they ride it out and go for Hall, or do they acquire Halak and re-sign him and have a 1-2 of Bulin and Halak - and also try to save their season?
