Regin, Foligno, Winchester, Lee, Picard and Campoli are all RFA's after this season.

Regin's on the second year of a two-year entry level contract due to his age. So he's an RFA after this season.

Hmmm...

If he shows his worth the first 3 months of the season, 5 years, 8-10 mil. Have to do it. That contract will pay off huge.

Damn, I wonder how much we'll give him. Especially if he puts up 50+ points this year, which he will if the chemistry stays as is and gets better.

Funny, anytime I mentioned trading Kelly, I received backlash, saying he was too valuable to move, I knew nothing about the game, he is a player that wins you games, blah blah... now it seems a lot of you are saying he will be moved. Where's the outrage now?

He is 100% a valuable player to the Sens and if Regin wasnt there Kelly would be here and still be an asset.

Fact of the matter is, Regin's better, cheaper, younger, and all he needs is Kelly's expierence. I still dont think you should trade a guy like Kelly to clear the cap room (like you defently mentioned) you trade him because Regin makes you team better then if you had Kelly there. That's why.

Kelly will help a team that needs him, Ottawa doesnt anymore. Says more about Regin then Kelly.

Do you really feel outraged, or are you just saying it because you saw it?

I had been suggesting all along a guy like Regin could step in to a 3rd/4th line role and do that job as effectively. Players have been taught all along to play defense, and any player that is trying to prove himself will do whatever it takes to earn that spot and if that means blocking shots, winning crucial faceoffs, so be it.

Regin still cant step in and do Kelly's job right now, he doesnt have the expierence to. He will for sure one day and be able to put up way better numbers as well, but you cant get him that expierence without putting him in Ottawa. That's the issue.

Saying Regin is going to step right into Kelly's role and be just as good off the bat is wrong. His numbers will be better but that's about it for the first year or so.

Kelly's job and/or role was to ride the coat-tails of Vermette. There, I said it.

Regin is performing miracles right now the likes of which have not been seen since Jeebus turned water into wine.

I really dont disagree with that part and Vermette. I dont think Kelly is as effective without him.

Fisher is still putting the puck in the net bud, haha, I agree Regin is working wonders for him game, but he isnt shooting the puck for the guy.

Kelly may have stone hands but he is very valuable on the pk. I am sure that losing him or trading him because you think a prospect can do the same job, will not get the same results this season. Are you guys trying for this season or looking further ahead at future seasons and cap issues?

Fisher is executing, which is not a given for any player, but Regin is giftwrapping scoring chances too. It takes two to click. Kelly would be a small sacrifice if it means keeping this fortunate pairing intact.

Future cap issues, the emergence of young players, the abundance of capable PKers on the team are all conspiring against Kelly right now.

not to mention his lack of effectiveness, it's do or die time for Kelly and I haven't seen much "do"

I was never a fan personally - and now Regin and Z.Smith can both do his job for 1/4 the price. Ouch...that hurts even typing that.

Kelly is most effective at amusing me with his freakishly small head.

Oh Murray! Why? Again, he couldn't look into a crystal ball to foresee this. It's not like we're sure Regin is going to play like this all year, but so far so good. I'm excited to see a full season of him. If all works out.
